Hm…looks like there are other “half-and-half on cereal” aficionados. Woo-hoo! The best is branflakes, with h&h and lots of sugar. Although I suppose that sort of defeats the inherent healthiness of the flakes…
Also, chocolate and ice, as well as banana/banana bread and Diet coke (Must be diet coke. Not regular Coke, and no brand of Pepsi), both taken in alternating bites.
Also, Hickory Smoked BBQ/Cheddar chips and chocolate ice cream.
You’d love the meatloaf I make. I made one the other night with the usual compliment of chopped onions and peppers and herbs, and then I shaped it around baby yellow squash and baby zukes, so every slice had big chunks of squash in it. Quite deelish.
Amen! I have always wanted to try one of these. Lotsa work, though. Here’s the recipe, for those who wish to be adventurous. Note that there are links to sources for you to order prepared ones shipped to you if you don’t feel like spending two days in the kitchen. I wonder if Zenster has ever tackled one of these puppies?
Weird food for me? Worcestershire sauce stirred into mashed potatoes. Other than using sliced water chestnuts in chicken soup, I can’t really think of any others.
From my father, I learned to love peanutbutter and dill pickle sandwitches. From my mother, canadian bacon/ham with pineapple pizza. Neither can understand the other’s food preferences, but they have come together quite nicely in me.
Butter on steaks and french fries with tartar sauce or mayo are weird?
I love peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches, Little Bird! They are especially tasty on whole wheat with a nice thick slice of the sharpest ceddar I can get my hands on. Potato salad snadwiches are also good (and fairly common here, so i don’t know if they really count). Many people here in Japan look at me weird when I curry and rice - I mix the curry and rice together. Soysauce on fried rice or beef/rice bowl get strange looks too. I find Tabasco Sauce is an excellent salad dressing my ex-girlfriend hated that. I have an original recipe that grosses out some people: cream of mushroom soup, scrambled eggs, swiss and cheddar cheese, and ground beef. Very tasty but no one will stay in the same room to watch me eat it, as it does bear a close resemblance to vomit :).
Heck, I like oatmeal in MY meatloaf.
Well, its mixed up really well.
I like potato chips with gravy. Is that gross?
Hmmm.guess I’m not that gross.
How about hot meatloaf with cold applesauce?
My sister-in-law the corn freak makes vanilla ice cream with brown sugar and adds creamed corn. I’ve had it, and it’s not as bad as it sounds and is edible.
I love French fry sandwiches on toasted buttered bread.
My siblings and I grew up eating pancakes with Velveeta cheese. We used to have pancakes for dinner, not breakfast, so this might have been a way of making a filling meal…
You stack them – alternating pancakes with a slice of cheese (gotta butter the pancakes first!) and then end with a slice of cheese on top. Pour Karo Dark or maple syrup over the whole thing. No more than four pancakes in the stack, or you’ll explode!
My all time favorite:
Peanut butter, Velveeta cheese, and lettuce (on white) sandwich.
Everyone always gives me the gross out face, but then I make them try it and they have to admin it’s good!
Melted butter on steak is fantastic! I’ve had it that way at French restaurants. Never dreamed I’d like it, but mmmmm, it’s good!
I’ve had a potato sandwich before as well, but it’s French Bread stuffed with french fries and has some type of beef broth gravy over it. Really tasty stuff!!

A local deli here has a sandwich called “The Gobbler”. It’s turkey, dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce on french bread. Heavenly!
I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Yummm!! Mr. Athena admits they sound OK, but refuses to eat one. Mr. Athena also eats plain noodles with ketchup on them, so I don’t take his tastes too much to heart.
Also yummy - dice some ham up and put it in the waffle batter before cooking the waffles. Very yummy.
My Dutch uncle (no, really!) got me hooked on French fries & mayo. Peanut butter & mayo sammiches are good too.
My grandma used to make sugar sandwiches - sugar & butter on bread. I think it was a Depression thing.
How about cottage cheese, crumbled up crackers & French dressing? Mr. Pol goes “eew” - but he’s not adventurous when it comes to food.
His family’s comfort food is “ronis” - cooked macaroni (I use medium shells) with COLD tomato juice & a bit of butter… BORING. Spaghetti sause & cheese (sometimes chicken &/or broccoli) goes on mine…
