My brother gave me a $30 iTunes card for my birthday and I think I need to expand my musical horizons a little bit.
What I like:
Choral music, particularly a capella and men’s chorus
Interesting instrumental stuff
The music of my misspent youth (I just turned 48), particularly the Eagles, CSNY, etc.
Big band jazz and swing
What I don’t like:
C&W – too twangy
Zydeco – makes my head explode
I’m kind of “meh” about Celtic music. Some of it’s OK.
A couple of my favorite albums/artists:
Don Byron’s Bug Music
Soundtrack from “O Brother Where Art Thou”
Almost anything by Chanticleer
So turn me on to something new, Dopers! (Oops. I’m down to $29.01 to spend. I just HAD to buy the Spike Jones recording of “You Always Hurt the One You Love.”)
