Recommendation for Electric Head Hair Trimmer

So last night, about 80% through shaving my head, my electric trimmer shit the bed. Even fully charged, the blades just don’t go fast enough to cut. I wish I had taken a picture of my ridiculous head, but didn’t think of it. My wife said I looked like Adebisi from “OZ.”

Anyway, does anyone have a recommendation for a cheap-ish electric trimmer? It can be directly plugged in, or plug in to a charger like my old one, but I was never happy with the power of the Norelco with the charger. I had to buy it in an emergency situation.

Ideally, this would be something I could get via internet or at Walgreens or something.

I don’t shave my head, but I do trim my goatee, for which I use a Wahl Peanut trimmer. It’s tiny, but powerful, and I’ve come to realize that no cordless model will ever have the power of a corded one. Even if you don’t like the Peanut, go with a Wahl; they’re darn near bulletproof, and what the pros use. Go into any barber shop or place where they cut hair, and look at the trimmers; 95% of the time, they’re made by Wahl.

I found this model at Amazon which might be better for your head than a Peanut. They sell extra combs for it as well, if you want more choices about the length to leave behind (10 combs for about $9).

Thanks - the Peanut looks promising.

Definitely a corded Wahl. I shave my head down to a #1 with one and it’s ridiculously effective.

You cannot leave us hanging like that. What’d you do to fix it?!?

Oh, and go for a corded version. I have a cordless, and the battery sucks so badly that I have to keep it plugged in while I cut my hair.

I shave my head with a corded Wahl, it’s a little more of an expensive investment but you’ll pay for it in only a few haircuts and all of the cheaper trimmers I have bought felt like they were tearing the hair out of my head.

One of those places that that it’s worth it to just spend the money on professional quality.

Google “Oster Fast Feed Hair Clipper”. Very good clippers.

Well, I tried to trim it close enough with scissors to use my wife’s leg razor. I usually like a very small amount of hair, rather than go all the way to the scalp, but was willing to go all the way. Unfortunately, i couldn’t plow through with the razor. Luckily, she has a mangroomer-type trimmer that worked, though it took forever.

I have a Peanut and a larger Wahl clipper. Very happy with them both.
Go with a corded model.
