Recommend me a new beard trimmer

So my electric beard trimmer gave up the ghost this morning. It is the only one I have ever had, and frankley I stole it from my father about 5 years ago when I first started experimenting with facial hair. I know nothing about beard trimmers, but I do know many dopers have beards. So I thought I would ask you all what you use.

I’m lazy and cheap, so right now, I use the Sunbeam something something hair cutter. The big ones that you get at Wal-Mart for 10 bucks and use when you cut your kid’s hair. I used to have a cheap cordless one, but I lost the charger.

Either works well for me. I use a #2 guard on the clippers.

You reminded me of when ma got a $50 hair trimmer in the late 60’s. She was thinking of all the money to be saved. I was old enough to refuse. The other’s were shit out of luck.

I use (and love) the Norelco T6000. I’ve had mine for about 5 years with no trouble at all, not even a battery replacement.

I’ve been using this for the past year or so, and it gets the job done nicely.

I am with ya on this one. I had the fancy cordless one & when you lose the charger, it makes a nice paper weight. The cheap $10 one from Rite-Aid with a #2 guard works very well.

Yes, I recommend a new beard trimmer

I have this Remington , and it works great for me. Has a bunch of attachments I’ll probably never use, and a couple I never thought I would, but I do.

I vote for Braun. Mine died, I bought a Norelco and hated it because I could not trim my moustache under the nostrils because of the ridiculously over-sized attachment. I’ll never buy a Norelco again

I use a Braun the wife got me at Walgreen’s. Trim the goat at a 4.

Wahl, baby. Wahl trimmers are tops in my book. Remington and Norelco have both broken on me, but my Wahl is still going strong.

I asked my barber, because she uses hers every day. She said not to bother with the cordless ones, they just don’t last. I agreed with that, because mine had just died. Go to a beauty supply shop, if you want a good one, and make sure it has the word WAHL on it. I’m not a barber, so I got a Wahl Peanut for $40, with a full set of different sized rakes, and a little bottle of Wahl clipper oil.

I use it on my moustache, nose, ears, eyebrows, nape, and around Big Olaf. It still works fine, after more than a year.

Im in the market for one also as it is. From what I’ve seen the WAHL trimmers all seem larger, I need something a little smaller for shaping and “detailing” my facial hair. Im much to spastic to use a larger trimmer for this :smack: . My birthday just past…i see a beard trimmer gift coming…

There’s nothing like the cordless one for dying half way through the job. Come on baby just two more minutes. Nope.

I love my Wahl cord/cordless trimmer, and recommend it very highly.

I use an Oster dog groomer. I bought it used about 10 years ago, and it’s pretty much bombproof. Replacement blades are a bit spendy but very durable.

I agree with the Peanut corded trimmer AskNott mentioned. Same small size as a cordless but never quits in the middle of a job. Mines several years old and still works great.
Wahl Peanut

I use a Braun Cruzer 3
The first one was pretty piss poor, it just did not cut, tugged out hairs and seamed to make an inordinate racket. After loosing the power cord and being in desperate need I ended up with a second one that works a treat.

To hijack this thread, after replying, does anyone have any recommendations for one with a good vacuum on it? I don’t trim very often (every 2 weeks or so), so when I do, the bathroom sink is COVERED with hair.

Stand in the tub!
