Red Dwarf Movie?

IMDB lists it as Pre-production, but it has to be more than a rumor if it is on IMDB right?

I hope they spend some good money. I loved the first two seasons, but after that the special effects just looked wrong. I thought Norman Lovett made the best Holly too, and according to the IMDB, Holly is indeed played by him!

I caught my first few viewing of this just last week. I don’t know what season it was, but it was LAME!!

I predict a movie will be SHITE! (In keeping with the English theme)

The movie has been in production but it doesn’t ever go very far.

They want the money to do it right and the studio isn’t always forthcoming. The highlight is that it’s going to be written, acted and directed by the same people so the talent and knowledge is there.

The movie’s been in pre-production for 5 years now. Even the actors don’t know what’s going on with it. My prediction? It’s never going to be made. The writing team broke up at the end of season 6 leading to a dramatic drop in quality and the writer that was left wrote himself into a corner at the end of season 8.

The last series of Red Dwarf was made in '99. The last good season (imo, of course), Season 5, was made in '93.

It was fun while it lasted, but it’s over now. At this point if there is a movie made it’ll be in 20 years and be one of those movie remakes of an old sitcom that are so popular.

Except that it really isn’t :(.

Doug Naylor has proven that he can’t really do Red Dwarf on his own with the pretty lame series 7 & 8, which even if you liked them pale to the previous 6 (and especially 1-5). The actors are all getting really long in the tooth for the kind of show Red Dwarf was – especially Robert Llewellyn, the ageless robot and Chris Barrie, the ageless hologram (that bringing him back from the dead stuff so they could go back to making fun of him and ignore all character development was really really lame).
