It’s fascinating to me to see that so many righties here on the SDMB are willing to have anything to do with Ryan_Liam, much less actually agreeing with him. The funny thing that Ryan_Liam and duffer and pals don’t seem to realize is that they’re the Der Trihs and Redfury of the other side of the aisle. (More specifically, duffer corresponds to Redfury, while Ryan_Liam corresponds to Der Trihs.) Personally, I don’t like extremist morons of either stripe. But as long as they’re focused on hating each other, the rest of us can do our own thing in peace.
And, as you pointed out in another thread - something I totally agree with you on - the word “cunt” is simply a much more serious insult than the word “dick”. Compare how often you hear one or the other on TV. It’s interesting to see that the word for male genitalia is not a particularly severe insult, whereas the word for female genitalia is. Things don’t always work exactly the same way if you switch genders around.
Please don’t associate me with the likes of Der Trihs or Redfury, because I am not even at their level ridiculousness.

This is what I love about SDMB sometimes, you’ll say an off the cuff remark about someone, and then the next 5 to 6 posts will be psychoanalysing the word and its implications in society and the world in general.

Further, you use the assumption that he owned it to essentially make an accusation of hypocrisy against him, along of the lines of, “Well, you own a nice pool/hot-tub, and you’re a leftist, so therefore you must be a hypocrite.” That also is typical of the analytical complexity you bring to these boards. I like this place because I’ve met a lot of very thoughtful people here of every political stripe. But Christ, the discussion always has to revolve around the mindless partisans and the crazy extremists. Nineteen reasonable, intelligent people and one wacko - and the discussion then inevitably revolves around the wacko. If only there were a rule against stupidity; then duffer, Der Trihs, Ryan_Liam, et al. would be gone and we’d be able to have productive political discussions among people whose perspective is more complicated than just wanting their team to win.
