Rejoice! "The Fall of Sam Axe" - Burn Notice prequel movie airs Sunday

Lightweight but fun. I enjoyed it. I’d compare its tone and level of meatiness more to Brisco County Jr. than to Burn Notice, but for what it was, it was good.

And of course it was nice to see Bruce wielding a chain saw again! I actually counted three *Evil Dead *references: the chain saw, the “Groovy!” line, and at the end when he held the “boomstick” up over his head.

Fun tv movie. It kept the light, easy spirit from the early Burn Notice episodes. Almost like a cartoon with real actors. It’s impossible to take too seriously. I appreciated how they kept Sam Axe’s character true to form. He wasn’t a Rambo or bad ass. He was Sam. The same guy we’ve seen for four seasons. A bit thinner and clean shaved, but otherwise the same guy.

Bruce said in one of the interviews that something from the movie will fit into this new season of Burn Notice. It could be anything. I’d guess probably the cute journalist lady. They made a point at the end to show her in a dress, and she was no kid. <shrug> just a guess. It could be almost any of the characters that we saw. Maybe even that bad guy that tried to knife Sam at the end.

I’ve followed Bruce’s career since the Evil Dead movies. He always plays the reluctant hero. The easy going guy that seems in over his head until circumstances force him into action. Certainly his Evil Dead character was like that, and most of the roles I’ve seen him in are similar.

Bruce’s comment about the tie in with the new Burn Notice Season. Just guessing, but maybe one of those two CIA guys that Sam threatened becomes a big shot in the CIA? Anything can happen on Burn Notice.

Will we see any changes for Sam’s character in season five now that we have this back story?

Bruce Campbell: Well you might, you might actually because Matt Nix has made it clear that there is - because of this prequel, an event that took place five years ago, Sam Axe had a bit of a run end with the CIA. Ironically Michael Westen is now getting back in with the CIA five years later. But that might not be a good thing for Sam Axe.

You know what I mean? Because Sam Axe can normally you know, as a guy who knows a guy, he knows county, federal, state, you know, Sam knows a lot of guys. But his little run in with the CIA might actually cause him let’s just say a few glitches in the future. Matt Nix made that clear that there will be some incidents that if you didn’t see the Sam Axe movie you won’t get it in season five, So you have to watch the TV movie not because of me, but because of the sake of the story. So if you don’t watch it you’ll be lost. It’s like LOST, you’ll be lost.

Well that was fun. We got a surprise Mike cameo (they should do a flashback episode to when he was still a spy), the origin of Chuck Finley, and an Evil Dead reference! And in the end, it didn’t really contradict what we know from the show.

I wonder if Kiele Sanchez’s character will ever make an appearance on the show.

I’d love to see that. I love her character from “The Glades,” Callie.

It was a bucket of suck. Awful! And I love Burn Notice and Bruce Campbell!

There was a moment when he was waiting for the columbian police and they were going to have to wait, and he said ‘a half hour can be a long time!’. My GF said ‘the last half hour sure was’.
