I was wondering if anyone could recommend a body wash that was drugstore-variety (that is to say, no boutique body washes that cost like $30 for 8 oz) which they think smells good and has a long-lasting smell?
I like to smell nice but don’t really want to do perfume or body spray
I came in all excited, then saw that you were after “long lasting”. I think for a long lasting smell, you’re going to have to spring for a body spray… something that goes on after you’re out of the water.
But then, I love perfume, so my nose may be numbed to the subtle delight of lingering body wash aroma. My favorite body wash, just because it smells so good in the shower, is Nivea’s orange blossom and bamboo fragrance. It actually smells like oranges, not orange blossoms, but at that price I’m not picky.
Like Sattua, I came in to make my recommendation, then I saw the long lasting part. I’ve never met a body wash that I could smell after I got out of the shower…hell, the smell usually goes right down the drain with it. The reason I use body washes that smell good to me are because I know I won’t smell like them for the rest of the day.
I’m a girl. The reason I specified “long-lasting” is cause . . . um, well maybe this is TMI, but I used to use a shaving gel whose scent stayed on me after I finished showering . . . it was so wonderful. Maybe it’s too much to ask for in a body wash :). Thanks for the suggestions though!
I like Dove’s moisturizing body wash: to me it smells clean but not particularly “scented,” and I’ve been able to smell it on my arms an hour or so after showering.
You might be able just to use the shaving gel as something of a post-lathering aroma-enhancing supplement. Just so you can get the good long-lasting smell onto your skin. Nothing says you can’t rub a little shave gel all over your body, as opposed to only on your legs.
Well, for guys, I found that the Gilette body wash scent tends to stick with you for quite a while after showering (Dial body wash, not so much). My wife uses the Dove stuff (and all sort of other stuff) when in the shower, and I don’t notice much more than a “clean” smell on her when she comes out.
I find that the scent of a plain ol’ Ivory Soap bar tends to stick around – I can still smell it on myself right now, seven hours after my morning shower.
Actually … I find that bar soaps, in general, have longer-lasting scents than body-wash gels.
I got a Lemon Vanilla shower gel from Bath and Body Works for under $10 and I find the scent sticks around for a couple of hours. Well, I notice it if I sniff my arms, anyway. All their scents tend to stick around a little, IMO.
I love Avon’s Skin So Soft body wash. It’s a nice, clean, and slightly sweet scent and I can smell it hours after I get out of the shower. As a bonus (but not a surprise) it makes your skin unbelievably soft.
*Although it doesn’t leave the streak-free shine like Windex!
I use various Suave Body Washes and while they smell good while in the shower, don’t notice any lingering smell afterwards. However, I’ll be the first to admit that my nose for such things is not the most sensitive. At under $2, hard to beat the price
