When you post a reply, the thread is replicated—but upside down! That’s going to be very confusing.
It was a great day the last time the board was updated, though, and we first got that feature.
I think all threads should be listed that way, most recent first that is. Makes catching up and replying a lot easier.
I disagree it makes it a lot harder to catch up.
If I open a new thread, I don’t want to have to jump to the bottom to read it, and scroll up to follow it. People don’t read that way, we read top to bottom, not bottom to top.
And with the new ‘go to first unread post’ button (GREAT feature, that), we don’t even need to do that for threads we’ve already read half of.

I guess it depends on how often you “catch up” 
If you’re like me, and check back every five minutes, it makes it easier than to scroll down to the bottom.

The ‘go to first unread post’ button is even easier, unless you manage to refresh it every time there’s a new post, before a second new one can come in, since you don’t have to read in an unnatural order.
