Republican debate and Trump

I haz no tv, so am hoping someone will take one for the team and make a thread informing us what was said in the Debate tonight and also the Trump/Carlson interview.

I most likely won’t be home from work until after the debate starts.

I just set my DVR to record it on Fox News. GAH!

Heh. We have a tv and a dish, but our remote control was destroyed months ago and neither of us can figure out how to operate the tv/dish without the remote. So, yeah.

There will be live blogging of it, those are often more informative than actually watching it. Usually 538 does it but other news organizations do so as well.

I’m not into self-flagellation, but the wife may want to tune into it. I’m sure there will be nothing new, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Christie do a Trump take-down.

Which was pre-taped, so he can’t comment on the debate.

This is the ONLY reason I may tune-in. While I am not the biggest fan of Christie, just to hear someone from inside the party break the spell, even if just briefly, will be refreshing - he’s gonna get booed relentlessly, tho.

Yeah, nobody but their moms care about those also-rans. The rich tech guy whose name they can miraculously pronounce while they stumble over Fani and Kamela. And then there’s Pence. Do these guys’ campaigns pay them a salary while running? Why else would Pence and the others stick with it, knowing that in this time line they have zero chance.

Or will Trump try to steal the spotlight by reporting for his arrest at the exact same time as the debate is occurring? That’s my bet.

Inertia is a hell of a thing. Most of the candidates slated for Milwaukee (6 out of 8) are former governors, pre-Trump even. For them, primary debates are a time tested tradition of presidential campaigns. Conventional wisdom since 1960 says a good debate performance can make or break a campaign.

That must be what is going through Burgum’s head right now as he decides whether it would be a good idea to limp up to the debate floor on literal crutches.

In today’s topsy-turvy world, at the very least the debate offers an opportunity for publicity.

MSNBC is reporting that that is just what he’s going to do. Also, his interview with T. Carlson will be playing on the internet somewhere.

Isn’t Trump reporting for surrender on Thursday? And isn’t the debate tonight?

I don’t doubt it’s going to distract from all the coverage tomorrow. But not tonight.

As I understand things, he is; and it is.

I cannot see Trump surrendering tonight. I’m sure he’s floated the idea, in order to steal the spotlight from the debate, but it also seems to me that some sort of preparation is required on the part of the jail, so Trump doesn’t walk into booking/holding past your common everyday arrestees. If he plans on Thursday, the jail will also prepare for Thursday.

So if he did float the idea, I’m sure saner heads have advised him that it would not be a good idea.

Plus I’m sure he wants to watch the debate himself to see how often he is attacked in absentia.

“Ooohh!! Oooohhhh!! How many times will they say my name?”

I hope all the debate folks just refer to him as “The Indicted Individual”

Isn’t inducing alcohol poisoning in your fellow Doper’s against the board rules?

“woke” You’ll hear a lot of “woke.”

It’s possible that I misheard. Oops. I was on my lunchbreak and really focused on my sandwich.

A subject much more worthy of attention that tonight’s debate, for sure.
