Republicans' war on transgender people: Omnibus thread

As I understand it, most schools don’t actually have “boys’ teams” and “girls’ teams”. They have “regular sports teams”, that take anyone who can get through the tryouts, and “girls’ teams”, for only girls. Occasionally it does happen that an extraordinary girl manages to qualify for the regular team, but in the vast majority of cases, it’s the physiological differences between the sexes that prevents it, not any regulation.

Where is this? I’ve never heard of this at all.
Even the girls’ national record holders would compete on a girls’ team (or against individual girls once they’re moved beyond team competition) at all levels.

My school had boys and girls teams who would practice and play separately. Varsity boys, junior varsity boys, varsity girls, junior varsity girls.

I think what Chronos was getting at may have been this sort of Title IX requirement for allowing girls on boys’ teams versus vice versa:

But that’s nowhere near that “most schools don’t actually have boys teams and girls teams”.

At least in the school I coach at, there was exactly one girl who tried out for a boys team. She made the football team as a kicker. No surprise there, she was an excellent track athlete and an absolute beast in workouts.

Ah, OK, so if the school has football, and doesn’t have a specifically girls’ football team, then a girl is allowed to play on the football team (provided she demonstrates sufficient ability in the tryouts, which she probably won’t). But if the school has both boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball, then a girl is not allowed to play on the boys’ team, no matter how good she is, only on the girls’ team. Is that correct?

Pretty much.

I believe that was the case at my high school. That was 30 years ago, though.

They were explicitly called Boys and Girls teams also.

Funny enough, in high school I played in a soccer league that wasn’t associated with the schools, and it allowed a gender mix. I remember this well because in one game the opposing team’s goalie was a girl and one of our strikers kept flirting with her which pissed off the rest of us; we just wanted to win the damn game.

I guess he was trying to play a different game.

That’s why this rule was invented:

Not really, he was attempting to score.

True, and that’s the main job of the striker; score on the goalie.

They catch her with her backfield in motion?

Trans man was told to use the women’s room by a business owner. Then he was beaten by three cis men after a woman freaked out believing he was a transgender woman. Then the cops arrested him (the victim).

This is what trans haters want. They want trans people scared and brutalized. They don’t actually care about bathrooms.

Who could have possibly predicted this exact outcome if the Right had their way on the bathroom issue?

I miss having red font.

(On another chat site, we used to use red font for posts like that. Now, while technically possible, it’s too hard.)

I miss being able to do red strikethroughs and blue “{…}”.

This works fairly well, I’d say

@crowmanyclouds: and this works for at least half of what you mentioned.

Not that bad, and it doesn’t slow the page load like the math plug-in does (for me at least).

If the feds got involved, that’s a hate crime up to 10 years in prison.

Not sure if there’s jurisdiction though.

They’re so hepped up on “defending women” they beat the living hell out of someone they consider to be a woman? Yeah, that parses. Good Lord!
