An Instagram account called RuPublicans is creating AI images of prominent Republicans as drag queens.
I gotta say, Steve Bannon makes for a big woman…
First of all, “RuPublicans” is brilliant.
Secondly, it’s weird but they look so much better in drag. No, really. Rudy Giuliani in particular is a massive improvement (low bar to clear, I know). The only one not improved is Mike Pence, and that’s because they didn’t put him in any makeup or wig, from the neck up he’s just Mike Pence.
Weirdest of all, Ron DeSantis looks fantastic in drag. There’s one in particular where he’s a smiling Disney princess (no irony there I’m sure) and it’s honestly a good look for him. (No snark intended, it reminds me of when Patrick Swayze was a drag queen in To Wong Foo and looked shockingly good.)
Santos looked good, too. Probably not Cruz.
No, he didn’t look good, but he looked better I thought. (I know, that’s not saying much.)

…I keep slapping myself in the face when I remember that Greg Gianforte literally body-slammed a reporter then went on to win the congressional seat. And is now the Governor. Just a random thought I had as I was reading the above story. SO much decorum, dignity and integrity.

(Oh, there’s also a now-graduated athlete who is apparently sad that she didn’t get the big trophy. I thought this party hated participation trophies?)

They tried to ban her from speaking for the rest of the legislative session. And now the plan is for the speaker to not recognize her and not allow her to speak.
This is bad. This is all bad. Alarm bells have been ringing for over a year now, but its all on fire now.
Yes, well, today’s American fascists are not, despite many comparisons, actual Nazis. They just don’t have the same animosity for Jews those old time bad boys did.
They are fascists, though. And they’re locking onto transgender people as a primary scapegoat. Not the only ones, of course, there are always multiple potential targets, but they are definitely targeting the transgender for not just oppression but elimination. They’ll dress it up in euphemisms, or claiming they’re “helping” people even as they seek to destroy them.
History is repeating. Not exactly, of course, it’s never an exact repeat. But it does rhyme.
Keep telling yourself that.
