Republicans' war on transgender people: Omnibus thread

Oh, brother. Okay, what do you think the chances are of flat-earthers being proven correct in the future? And what do you think the chances are of the experts I’ve pointed to, as well as the medical experts who agree with them, being proven correct in the future?

Feel free to point to these lies or incorrect information and explain how you know that to be the case.

I’m sure they are orders of magnitude higher than you and that idiot Billboard Chris grasping the complexities of anything.

Zero.

Also zero.

Interesting you bring this up. It appears that of those kids with gender dysphoria who go through puberty, the majority of them turn out to be healthy gay men. Do you have something against gay men?

“There is no downside” is an oversimplification. All meds have risks and benefits, which would be made clear in the many, many, MANY discussions that a doctor would have with a patient before starting drugs like these.

People on aspirin occasionally have bleeding complications and die. I feel safe saying they regret taking it, or they would if they weren’t dead.

Parents and children and their doctors make decisions way more touchy than this one every day.

That’s the right group. But they need to be embracing new information. That’s how science works. And one thing that gets in the way of that is when a medical issue gets political, as this has become. Hell, just look at what happened with Covid. There was a general consensus among the experts. But others, tops in their field, were unsure and eventually disagreed. They were shut up. When that happens, many fewer people who hold those views will decide to not speak up. Which is precisely the point of the tactic. In the end, brave people like Dr. Jay Bhattacharya from Stamford, Dr. Marty McGarry from Johns Hopkins, and others turned out to be right.

I don’t think they are acting on their own opinions—that would be nuts—but listening to what they’re hearing from other experts. Do you really think they’re not doing that?

Embracing new information =/= combing through your excrement!

Yet, the facts, data and information are there, unbothered by your intense desire to not digest them.

Not sure what your point is here. People die from medical complications all the time, my dad included. What is left out of the is a person’s ability to understand the risks. Children can’t give informed consent. We say that a 15-year-old can’t consent to have sex with a 21 year old. But you’d be okay with a kid that age, being asked to consent to something much more complicated and with much greater risk?

Has a single person in this thread even suggested that a minor be allowed to make those decisions alone? No. All of us have been saying that, just like any other health decision for a child, it’s the parents’ responsibility to make that decision, based on what they believe is best for their child.

That you think Dr Bhattacharya was proven right demonstrates that we live in different factual universes. There’s no point to discussion when you believe up is down.

Gotta run. When I come back I expect the to see a long string of posts starting with “Magellan01 is right”.

Ha. You go right on believing that if you get vaccinated you can’t spread the virus or be reinfected. Funny stuff.

Nice straw man. Not surprising to see you make stuff up about those who disagree with you.

If we had followed Dr Bhattacharya’s recommendations, millions more would have died.

Children take medications and undergo procedures every day with risk profiles far greater than puberty blockers. Because the parents and the doctor (and, ideally, the child) decide that the benefit outweighs the risk. Some of those kids have permanent negative complications. Some of them even die. But I don’t see Tucker Carlson demanding that kids shouldn’t ever be able to take medications of any kind because they can’t possibly give informed consent. Just these particular meds.

You probably won’t.

If you all can’t see that he’s straight up trolling you for lulz, This should prove it.

Why do you keep diverging from the subject? Hunter’s laptop, vaccinations, flat-earthers. You are trolling us just for the lulz.
