Thanks for the assist, heff. So did I do anything silly while hypnotized?
I was, as usual, awake early. Not quite as early as on a normal workday (I’m off today, did I mention this?), but still, 6:32 or some such. Lolled about for a while, then gave up and got up. I’ll head out to the garden as soon as I’ve caffeinated and breakfasted.
Welcome back, Sage Rat!
Hope you recover quickly, BooFae!
I’m apparently all exclamatory today!
Hi Taters! You reminded me: I kinda liked the Banana Spider. Although I have no need to meet one personally.
Yay for internet at home, Nava! That is not mundane. It’s very important as it is a direct connection to civilization. And the MMP.
Mornin’ y’all! I’m up and caffienated. Now all I need to do is motivate. The friend I went and listened to while he bitched and moaned is feelin’ much better now. I guess he got everything out cause he was smilin’ when I left last night. I’m glad for that cause two hours is a long time to do that without feelin’ better.
Taters I love ya more than my luggage but that ain’t gonna work.
Heff here’s a pic I posted several months back of me holding my great niece Kelly. Kelly appears to be giving the world the finger in this one. Here’s hopin’ it lives up to your expectations.
Yay on the internet Nava.
BooFae one of the good things about havin’ The Sick at work is you can cough all over co-workers (or is that cow-orkers) you can’t stand. Every cloud has its silver lining after all!
Happy Friday, everyone! It’s my day off, but when Mr Rebo left for work, apparently the dogs thought I should get up, too. Lucy showed her enthusiasm by JUMPING ON MY HEAD. And giving me lots of doggie kisses. So instead of sleeping in, I’ve been up since 5 freakin’ 30.
I have absolutely nothing planned today. Yay! I was going to go to the beach, but it’s supposed to storm later. Boy, it sure did last night! Loud lightning and thunder, and lots of flooding all over town.
I might (just might, mind you) sweep and mop the kitchen floor. But I’m probably gonna laze around all day and watch trashy movies.
Hugs for: Rosie, VWife, and Welby
Yays for:
Internet for Nava! Sage Rat is back! Swampy’s pool being fixed!
Boos for: BooFae having Teh Sick.
If I missed anybody, consider yourself hugged, yayed or booed.
Oh joy. Today we start the process of replacing The Family Truckster.
Since the subject of asshole cats has been broached, I have to chime in. Booger The Waste of Oxygen has begun trying to get outside in the middle of the night whenever one of the dogs needs to go out. He’s made it 3 times so far.
This morning, he tried yet again by standing back and dashing when I opened the door. I was ready for him, and he got caught when I pulled the door shut on him. I didn’t hurt him, and I tried making my point by holding him there for a few seconds. That didn’t work though, because he tried again a bit later when the other dog went out.
Last I knew, he was still mad at me. No skin off my butt…
Oooh, your great-niece is cute, swampy. You’re both cute, really, but your great-niece wins.
Haze, don’t judge The Big Lebowski until you’ve seen it a second time. It really does improve with more viewing. I didn’t like it much the first time, either.
I didn’t steal the sleep last night. My next-door neighbours were being… hmm… loudly horizontal, and I didn’t fall asleep until after two. And then Aerin told me it was wake-up time before eight. Not my fault about the missing sleep. Check someone else’s pockets.
Good morning, all! It’s my last day to work in the dustbin! Yay!
My zit farm seems to be tapering off, thank goodness. However, I’m barely coherent enough to remember half of the stuff that I just read, including that fun little meltdown that’s grown at an exponential rate in the past two days.
LiLi, I hope our new house is not so close to the neighbors or with thin enough walls that we’ll disturb their sleep time with our first week’s frequent loud horizontal exercises. This, of course, occurs every time we’re reunited in our own place after a long distance stint. Luckily enough (for us at least), there won’t be any more LDR crap to deal with after Monday. VBob, my brother’s wife acquired two of the most retarded cats ever. They’re constantly doing silly things, like running about like maniacs and trying to cause objects to fall and hurt themselves. What makes this worse is that he’s trying to pack and the cats love boxes.
Congratulations on the raise, Rebo. BooFae, I hope you feel better soon. Getting the sick is never fun, and it’s even more not fun when employers contradict themselves on the sick days policy. If they try to tell you to use your sick days, explain to them that you got marked down for using them last year on your review. Someone might have some common sense in regard to this and not penalize you.
Just, too too much going on to try and recap. I DID catch up here though, yays/hugs/awws as required.
The Kid is home from school as of last night. Took her last final yesterday afternoon, worked til 9 and walked in at 10. Of course, we see her 2-3 times a week when she is at school, so this will be a barely perceptible change.
Tonight her new 'guy she’s NOT going out with, but we’re just kinda seeing how it goes’ is coming by. He’ll hang with her tonight, tomorrow and head home. He’s a really nice guy, and comes highly recommended (of COURSE I checked up on him, duh) from people that have known him forever, and whom I trust.
This is her first ‘guy she’s NOT going out with, but we’re just kinda seeing how it goes’ for her since the mess with the Biggest A-Hole in the World that Dared to Strike and Threaten MY Kid episode in Ohio. Some of you might remember that.
Since, she’s been alternately doing really well, and really not well with all that - she was seeing a counselor at school that she may go back to every couple weeks over the summer. I take that she’s thinking of seeing someone, and that she’s taking it very slow and cautiously, and that he’s close (peripherally) to her very tight circle of friends - who’ve been, along with us - her ROCK through all this, and that he understands her caution, and is more than patient with her - all that as a good sign.
PS: I hereby declare today to be “Run-on Sentence Friday”, and submit the above.
A Jack Russell and a German Shepard? Isn’t the Jack Russell a really little dog and a German Shepard a pretty big dog? How exactly did that work??
I did not steal the sleep either. I couldn’t fall asleep last night, then once I did, I woke up at 3 and was awake until almost 4:30. So I’m sleepy today.
I’m too far away to help too, rosie. I’m sending hugs though.
And not a moment too soon; it’s been a long week – for some here more than others. It’s payday for me though, and since we were living off of a few bucks in my wallet the last few days, that much is even more welcome than the fact that it’s Friday. So I got me a lovely garden salad with lite ranch for breakfast, and a nice fish fillet (unbreaded) with rice and lemon butter for lunch. And some beef jerky for a snack. I loves me some jerky.
I also had to buy replacements for the milk and yogurt I lost in last weekend’s debacle with the cleaning company. The good news is that they will reimburse me for them. I almost wish I had bought the cheap stuff last time so I could get the good stuff this time.
Swampy - My … you look a lot more … um … what’s the word? Respectable than I imagined. Your great-niece is adorable, too – and she’s got the right attitude. She’ll go far.
BooFae - Ugh, I hate The Sick. Home it passes quickly – and try sneezing away from the computer. We don’t need to catch it.
DogButler - Your spiders are cool. I could definitely befriend at least one of those.
Okay, considering it took me an hour to post this in between work-related crap, I’m just gonna get back to it and sneak in when I can.
The Jack Russell was most likely the male in this situation. From my experience/observation, I’ve noted that Jack Russells can sometimes be weaselly little dogs who run and hump and steal food. They can also be lovable and [relatively] laid back and fun to watch zoom around the dog park.
Morning, all. I’ve been puttering thus far this morning; I decided I’ve been trying to kill myself all week by working too hard, so last night stole some of that sleep and had a pretty good night’s rest. Except for some really weird dreams right before I got up. Nothing remarkable, just a pileup of minor dream annoyances – aggravating people, misplaced car keys, closed restaurants, etc. Apparently my subconscious is peeved today.
It’s another purty day here, so I’m enjoying the fresh air. And really, really glad I wasn’t headed westbound on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge late yesterday afternoon – there was a multi-car three-death pileup that closed the westbbound span in its entirety for eight hours. They were having to send people via Baltimore to get across the Bay, which is, oh, 75 miles out of their way.
Please don’t send Teh Sick across the Pond, BooFae. I really, really don’t need it right now. And I agree that you should go in and cough and sneeze on your boss who marked you down last year, and if he complains, point out that it’s really all his own damn fault.
Okay, one more chunk of a rush job to finish and I’ll have dug my way out from under the majority of the current mountain of work. So I think I’ll get back to it so I can enjoy my weekend guilt-free!
We have high-speed internet at home now. Mom is slightly disturbed by the lights on the cable modem. She had to put something in front of it to block the lights or she claimed that she couldn’t sleep. This weekend, we go wireless.
Brown Widow spiders? There are Brown Widow spiders??? ::Checks Google:: OMG! WTF!! ETC!! I just realized that I had a HUGE infestation of those on my back porch a couple of years ago. Well, at least nobody every got poisoned.
I am getting a 20-minute massage this afternoon compliments of my department head and team leaders. Too cool!
boofae, be sure to sneeze all over something you have to hand over to boss. It’s only fair.
dolo, my bro down in Houston was talking about all the rain you had. Sure hope it heads this way so we can get rid if “burn and churn.”
mbg, I remember that [del]dickhea[/del] daughter’s ex. Glad she’s being cautious this time around.
In the usual way, dear.
I’m off to have my pasta with vodka sauce lunch. Mmmmm, vodka sauch.
Listen to how stupid I am. My license plate expired LAST OCTOBER. I kid you not. OCTOBER '06. I sort of knew, but forgot. In April I got a ticket, but all would be well if I just got the updated tag, and showed the evidence to district court.
In a month.
Which is up TODAY, I think, but I have no idea because SOMEBODY threw away my citation. So I’m off to court to clear everything up today.
Apparently just thinkin’ about vodka sauce makes puggy post drunk.
Mindude of course I’m respectable. I am couth, suave and sophisticated. I sip martinis and almost always remember to use a napkin to wipe my mouth. Kelly on the other hands poops herself and drools. I’m told they grow out of that. We can only hope.
Oooooh, Ellen, hope it’s cleared up soonest. Cuz we’re mostly too far away to come and bail you out.
How are things going today, rosie posie?
Yay on broadband and then wireless internet, Tel! They’re both very handy.
Glad the daughter was able to find someone to maybe possibly see how it goes with, MBG. I think I missed most of the ex story, but remember that you’ve referred to him before and that it made me and , to put it politely.
Hee, swampy, that’s what I was thinking too. Hope there was more sauce than vodka, puggy.
I’m taking a break from the garden where I’ve plastered a large area with newspaper in this year’s grasskill area. Some of it will probably be lawn again eventually, but it was doing so poorly that I had to put it out of its misery, at least for a while.
Need to go run some errands and obtain some mulch, then it’ll be back to the garden for a while.
Guess I should start some laundry before I go, though.
I’m a little better today, but not a lot. I’m stressing about paperwork being filed to get me my disability checks. I’m stressing about paperwork for the intermittant FMLA time. I’m stressing about some unknown individual claiming to be my doctor (I recognize neither the name nor the phone number) and asking my actual doctor for confidential information.
My room is clammy at night - warm and cold at the same time. I want to be in a normal climate. I want to go home. But I still have work to do - I only just tried crutches for the firsdt time today - very wobbly. Now I have to survive a very boring weekend - nothing on TV - no good movie stations (not even TCM) and likely no visitors except for tomorrow evening. Feast or famine - either no one shows up, or they all show up at the same time.
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS PLACE!
But I will be going thru this all again when I come back for the left knee. You all take care of your bodies and don’t get arthritis, okay?
See ya Monday
oh, and yay for fabulous raises and new homes and all other things of a celebratory nature
