Ok, I went to the “job fair”. :rolleyes: Waste. Of. Time. Ok, not a complete waste, I did get a free bottle of water out of it. It seems to me though, if companies are supposed to be participating in sump’n like this, they perhaps pay a fee to be there? I mean, I don’t know how all this works but I swear half the places that were supposed to be there weren’t judging from the empty tables in the room. I went though. I made the effort. That’s what counts. I enjoyed the free bottle of water on the way back home.

A cool thing happened yesterday. A couple of weeks ago, we received a notice from our cable company (which we have bundled with phone and internet) was going to drop two of the free Encore movie channels we receive. I don’t watch many movies, but my Dad is home all day, and he sure does.
So I called TW and asked how much to get HBO and drop the land line. It would save about $31. Cool, I thought. But then he offered me ALL the movie channels - all HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Movie Channel - all of them for FREE!!! If I kept the land line. And they would charge me $27 less than I was already paying!
So I keep the land line, and get all the movie channels for $27 dollars less a month. But only for a year. After that it goes up $50 from what we will be paying after the deal. So I guess we’ll renegotiate in a year.
I can already tell it will affect my life. Do you know how many movies I haven’t seen? I stayed up until 11:00 last night watching North Country. Great flick!

Afternoon, all. I have had a thrilling day thus far – got up, caffeinated, worked for an hour, went to a doctor’s appointment. stopped off on the way home at the pharmacy, and am now back a-slavin’ at my desk. Which is going to be the program for the rest of the day. Such a thrilling life I lead.

You really must not have been paying attention, Swampy – I got my hair cut last Friday, and was trying to take wagers on how long it would take Papa Tigs to notice, only nobody seemed to care. If anyone had bet 28 hours, they would have cleaned up. Apparently, however, even his lack of observancy is better than yours right now!
Spiders are cute. As long as they’re not in my house. When I lived in Texas, I always had these cute furry non-web-spinning spiders living on the outside of my windows; they were good spiders because they caught all the bugs that were trying to get into my house. So we coexisted peacefully – as long as they stayed on their side of the windows!
I’m sorry to hear that things are not going so well with VWife. I hope things get straightened out soon. I’m also sorry to hear about your truck’s demise.

I woke up still feeling like utter crap, but am going to get myself cleaned up and try to head into the office. I’m feeling just slightly better than I did when I woke up, so hopefully, it’ll work out. Don’t worry, I don’t have anything contagious, so I’m no passing germs to anyone. I wouldn’t do that.

Sorry about the truck, VB, and even more sorry about your wife. I hope she has adequate pain meds now - having had both a broken foot and a broken rib (altho not at the same time) I can testify that she needs them. Not walking is one thing, but it is generally not considered a good thing to stop breathing - even when it hurts to do so.
How old was the Vundertruck? I’m thinking the manufacturer ought to at least be helping with medical bills since the airbags didn’t deploy. You might want to see an attorney about that.
Insomnia is still kickin’ my butt - all you sleep stealers need to hand it over! I was so sleepy at 6 yesterday I almost went to sleep in my chair, but forced myself to stay awake thinking I would be really sleepy at bedtime. Went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 12:30. Got back to sleep, was wide awake at 1:30. Surfed the web until 3, went back to bed. Woke up at 5, went back to bed at 7 and slept until 10:30. I am very tired of this, and with me not working and us having no insurance there just isn’t money for me to go to the doctor right now. I’m hoping to hear from the job I applied for soon.
Oh, in the mess of all the crap from VWife’s incident, I got myself in trouble doing good once again. Saturday, we had a fire, and all of the officers roared off in one engine leaving a full crew and no one to drive. I’m EVOC qualified, but I can’t drive for administrative reasons because I’m still probationary.
Guess who wound up driving the other pumper to the scene?
We’re back to 11 ribs broken in 16 places. According to the orthopedic surgeon she saw today, you can’t properly diagnose rib fractures without displacement on a standard X-ray, which the ER doc did Sunday night. It can only be done with CAT scan with contrast, which IS what the trauma guy did on Thursday.
I still want to kick all of them in the balls for the treatment and runaround, however. :mad:

We need to set up a chart and see who among us have had what parts removed and/or replaced. Is there a complete MMPer anywhere? I’m without the girly innards, the appendix, the gallbladder, about 6" of small intestine, and 2 wisdom teeth (that’s all I had.) Still got my tonsils, tho, and so far the knees are still questionable.
Class tonight - we’re doing raku firing, which involves putting our pieces in actual burning fire. Wonder if I dare take some marshmallows??

Anyone else seen The Queen? What a great movie! I have watched it twice and could watch it again. I wish they had included a director’s commentary or deleted scenes though. That was a strange time.
