Requiem for Ralph - A Spontaneous MMP

Well, damn. I never made it to work. I thought that taking a shower and all that jazz would make me feel a little better, but if anything, I feel worse.

I suppose I could have dragged myself in, but I don’t think I would have been or done much good. So, I stayed home.

Hubby called and was commenting on how beautiful it is out. Unfortunately, I’m in no shape to go out on our boat. Besides, he has to renew the trailer tabs and boat registration anyway.

Speaking of vehicle registration, the tabs on my rig expire this month. So, I pulled out the renewal notice and sort of looked like :dubious: :dubious:   when I read it. Okay, all told $160.00 bucks isn’t much; however, we passed an initiative some years back that made us the land of $30.00 tabs. Of course, we never paid just thirty dollars, but I haven’t paid more than $100.00 in several years.

So, out of curiosity, I check to see how the fees in my registration renewal were broken down. Imagine my consternation when I saw that $109.00 of it was for the Regional Transit Authority. Yeah, that boondoggle authority that has WASTED far more tax dollars and that should be freakin’ in jail for their waste, fraud and abuse. This same tax that truly doesn’t do JACKSHIT for those of us in Pierce county. Yeah, there’s a commuter train that goes to Seattle. Everything goes to SEATTLE. Guess what, there are other freakin cities here with commuter woes. If I have to pay the GD tax, I want it to do MY county some good. ARRGGHH. I’m fired up.

Do you know why we had an initiative to lower our tabs in the first place? Because we were paying several hundred to thousands of dollars to renew our vehicle registrations every year. And they wonder why the taxpayers revolted? :dubious: With the creep (and it’s been in the news), there may be another taxpayer revolt.

Sorry about that. I’m sick of pulling money out of my ass for taxes that do nothing for me and watching them CLIMB.

**Bobbio, ** I hope you and the wife find some relief soon. Geeze, it’s got to stop sometime, right? I’m keeping the both of you in my thoughts.

I really need to go to the store. I’m out of stuff.

And I thought that the Norfolk hospital was one of the better ones around here. And I was just a couple of blocks down the street Saturday night, at a friend’s house. I didn’t smell any pecans, though.

**V-Bob ** - my best wishes for your wife’s recovery.

All else: It was a gall bladder yank. All is well. I ought to be on tomorrow for a bit longer. Right now, I just want to sleep more.

I just found a fortune cookie fortune in my purse that I’d forgotten about (and had never posted):

You have executive ability.

<snerk> IN BED! <snerk>

That one worked out real good taxi.

Well, the pepper steak was a big hit. I mentioned that it’s Nurse Appreciation Week and got told I needed to appreciate a nurse then. I think that was meant to be durty.

Enjoy the drugs welby.

ETA: Feel better Taters!

Eeeeek, best wishes to VWife; sounds like a load of crappy experiences.

Everyone else: get healthy and out of the hospital/rehab (I’m lookin’ at you, rosie posie) NOW.

Where’s Spats? (Sean misses the puns.)

Off to garden. Back later.

GT

We do seem to be Spats and punless as of late. Mayhaps he’s knee deep in finals?

I took Maggie to the vet today, she has some kind of tumor on her shoulder. She’s getting it cut off next week. I hope it’s not too serious.

Poor Maggie! I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers too doggio. Does it seem to be bothering her?

Yeah, that’s what he told me on AIM the other day. I am wading in the sea that is my thesis myself.

Hugs and kisses to all the wounded: man, woman, and beast alike.

Nope, at least that is going right for her this week.

DB, I’ll be keeping Maggie in my thoughts. I hope it is nothing serious.

Guess what? I found a bed in my dressing room! Slight exaggeration, as I knew it was there, but hadn’t seen much of it in a while because of all the junk piled on it. I cleared off the junk and washed the bedspread, so the room looks about 33% better. Next goal is to de-junk my dressing table.

Ooooh, such accomplishment, SCL! Can you come clean at my house?

Sorry to hear about Maggie - prayers and good wishes headed your way.

Hi welby! How does it feel to be down one gallbladder?

Scared me for a moment, O Ursine One. Thought maybe the ignored haircut belonged to some other MMPer and I’d gotten it wrong. Whew! Oh, and I forgot to wave hi at FCM, who was also in the MAD pic. And hi to FCM’s Mom as well.

More accomplishments in the garden. I planted four perennials, did further blackberry bramble removal, removed the blue mist shrub (winter seems to have killed it off - or maybe it’s just not terribly long-lasting) so that I can plant something different there tomorrow. I have tomorrow off to go plant shopping for the park and hope to be home fairly early in the afternoon so that I can get lots of planting done.

Finals are no excuse for not posting in the MMP!

Need to go crawl into bed.

Hope everyone who’s achy and otherwise doing poorly is better tomorrow.

GT

GT, how do you go about blackberry removal? I have removed them for two years running and am just thinking about trying to trellis the little bastards. They produce sweet fruit.

Mindfield Rabid bat, but we had to put her down to find out. She was attacked, my then stepfather saw it, went out, stepped on the bat, we sent bat and kitty to Animal Control, they put her down. :frowning:

Thanks everybody, SSG has not turned up again, but poor Yoshi is going bonkers!

BUSY BUSY BUSY, must order stock, ARGH!

Cheers,
G

SCL at one of my previous homes, I once planted a couple little twigs that eventually filled the whole length of the back of my garage with blackberry shrubs. I just gave up and tried every fall to just keep them trimmed back.

And enjoyed the berries.

I had a school board meeting tonight, had to give two reports and get two bid openings/contracts approved. I hate board meetings, hard to believe I once sat on a school board.

I see we’re all having fun in that making up lies about the last poster thread. I can’t remember one of those long ones like that I’ve had so much fun in in a long time.

ems, congrats on the house. Exciting stuff!

welby, hope you’re feeling better very soon.

Taters, wellness vibes headed your way.

Bob, wellness vibes to your wife also.

rosie, good to see you back. Get well soon so you can post more.

Waitaminit, you’re supposed to pay attention in the MMP? Damn, nobody told me!

Dolores, I used to squish roaches for Mom. I also had to jump off our balcony onto a roof that was about the same level whenever some neighbor’s panties had fallen from her clothesline (why was it always panties?), which I hated because there were rats nesting between the bottom of the balcony and the roof. We’d sometimes get visits from Pest Control and then after they looked dubiously at the roof I’d have to jump and set up the traps. We moved out of there when I was 12; I would have loved the new house even if its only benefit had been being a 10th floor instead of a 1st. The only bugs in the “new” place are chinches verdes (which is better to get out, since they stink when you squish them) and ants (which are usually quite good at staying outside).

Bobbio, maybe next time your wife is feeling envious of BioTigs and BioRosie you could just have a Robocop marathon? That movie is bad enough to heal anybody’s desire for bionification. Or she could get a navel piercing!

welby, good omms sent to your restructured digestive system. Said like that it sounds like you got bionificated too!

Rosie was here? Bah! I missed her.

Vundernuts, I hope VWife is feeling better today. Will she be joining us in the bioknee corner?

Welby - if you have any spare sleep that LiLi hasn’t claimed, can I have some, please?

Ems, congrats coming your way, and wellness vibes to Taters too.

Busy, busy day today already. We have some improvement in the cat situation at home - having put a litter tray in the bathroom as well as one downstairs, Shadow hasn’t been peeing and pooing in the bath quite as often. He has, however, started pulling up the carpet outside the bedroom door because he wants to come in.

We hadn’t been letting him into the bedroom because he kept peeing on the bed but a couple of nights ago I decided to let him in and see what happened. Mostly it involves being awake and watching him. Last night I left the bedroom door open when I went to bed and he did eventually wander in, jumped up on the bed, chased the bedmice for a while and then settled down for a snooze.

Progress! No peeing on the bed! But he did reward me by peeing in the bath overnight and then pooing in there this morning when I got up. I have no idea why he does this but at least he’s starting to get some of his bedroom priveliges back. I’m still not leaving the door open all day when we’re not at home, I don’t trust him that much.

I am caffeinated and off to work.
