One of the dogs I used to watch would catch the toad that lived under their front porch. He’d hold it in his mouth and his mouth would be dripping foam. Never killed the toad, never tried to at it, but you’d think he’d caught on to leave it alone.
I started my taxes yesterday. Ugh, no fun. I’m missing a statement from the credit union. So I have to call them and hopefully I can get the info online.
Sis and my younger brother had chikin pox a week before Christmas vacation when I was nine. I got chikin pox over Christmas vacation. That was the most evile thing they ever did to me.
Looks like Arthur’s funeral will be on Moanday. His wife did not want to have his funeral durin’ Holy Week. I do know that it will be one hyuuuuuuuuuuugely attended funeral. I feel for YP right now. In addition to all the Holy Week/Easter services (with four Baptisms even!) he now has to plan out a funeral.
The only interesting thing I ever got on Spring Break was crabs. I had chicken pox as a kid (6ish) and still have the Barry Sadler hole in my head from it.
sticky, re the chicken pox: are you my baby sister?
{{{swampy}}}
It’s a boring day here at irk. I got the Easter / spring cards addressed last evening and in the mail this morning. I also filled 36 plastic eggs with Hershey’s minis and little jelly beans for the egg hunt Sunday. Tonight’s bowling.
I had spam and beans for N.O.L. I know y’all are jealous.
We’re getting low on food around here but I told Sah-son I want to use up what we have before we buy more. So it’s going to get a little boring but some of this stuff has been here since we moved in and time to use it up.
Anything we don’t like or want I’ll take to my mother’s for the nieces. The younger one has four boys, they will eat anything.
Sticky when we order from dominoes we get enough for two days. Leftover pizza is good, quick and easy.
I thought I had chicken pox, but my mom says no. I have had the shingles vaccine - maybe it was a wasted effort - dunno. It was free and I’m all about the free.
Yard work was a pain today. I did take out the 3 spider plants, plus the banana plants. The green bedroom is now free of plants, the spiders are free of their dead foliage and they’re all well-watered, and the bananas are on the back porch, since they’ll get lots of sun there. At least 1 of the 4 has survived - we’ll see what happens with the others in the coming days.
Once I took care of those, I decided to water in the fertilizer I spread yesterday, including the roses. The hose that had one hole in it now has 2. We’ve got some super-duper tape that should repair it, and if not, hoses are relatively cheap, right? Anyway, I dragged the double hose all the way to the road and soaked all the azaleas at the end of the driveway - they should be really pretty - white on one side, pink on the other. I also soaked all 4 roses several times. The soil has a lot of clay in it, so there was a good bit of runoff. I need to get some peat moss to mix with the nasty soil - that should help. And I soaked the 4 azaleas by the front porch and did my best to saturate the 4 concrete planters on the porch. I need something that likes shade to fill them - probably impatiens, or maybe coleus.
Once the front hoses were coiled, I went out back, thinking I’d use the oscillating sprinkler to water those azaleas. Except the end that connects to the hose snapped off - when I looked at how it was held together, I’m amazed it lasted as long as it did. I figured I’d just use the nozzle and soak them by hand like I did out front. Except the nozzle snapped off in the same way. Dammit. So I had to do the thumb-on-the-end-of-the-hose to create a proper spray. And the hose is so stiff, it was a real pain to coil it back up again. Anyway, my shopping list now reads

Arthur’s funeral will be Moanday at four p.m. Following the Funeral Mass and burial there will be a reception in his honor at the art museum. I like that. Arthur loved our local little art museum. Looks like my Moanday afternoon/evenin’ is all planned out. Oh and I get to ush and have been tasked with the job of roundin’ up at least three more ushers.
In other news, it’s purty out and I don’t want to be at irk anymore!
Howdy from da cave! Only one more irkday to go! WOOHOO! I stopped at the sto’ and got some baked chikin pieces. I figured two cooked cut up chikins would be a nice contribution for tonight. Plus grapes. Oh and a bottle of wine. Wine is definitely first century middle east I figure.
First century Christians would often gather in one or an others homes for a communal meal followed by the Lord’s Supper. We are “re-creating” that sort of with tonight’s Agape Feast in the Parish Hall. I say “re-creating” cause we will definitely be usin’ electricicals and a/c. Hey, one can “re-create” without bein’ all primitive about it, right?
We’re doing leftover chicken with rice and gravy and something in the vegetable family - maybe peas-n-carrots?
Tomorrow, **FCD **has an appointment with the knee guy to go over his MRI. I’m going with him so I can ask any questions I may have. I hope this doesn’t mean he needs a new knee, but who knows??Tomorrow will tell.
Mercifully, there were no April Fool jokes at the hospital today, unless you consider a slightly scary and rattly old elevator a joke. Between floors, the thing lurched sideways so hard, we were thinking it was an earthquake, but when we got off, nobody on the floor seemed the least bit alarmed.
Good news is that the cancer treatments of two years ago continue to have been successful. Tomorrow, we’re off to some place that will rub tabby cats on him to see that the cancer hasn’t simply decided to wander off and invade other areas. So far, indications are that it has not, but every so often, that needs to be confirmed.
Howdy Y’all! Home from the Agape Feast over to the church house. We had a biiiiiiiiiig (for us) crowd and lots of fuds. I even had some lamb, which as y’all know, is not a favorite of da bear but this was good. She cooked it in beef and chikin stock and served it with couscous and an au jus. Plus, somebody brought salmon patties. YUM! All kinds of other good stuff was there as well.
flytrap yeah, like Pesach except I’m pretty sure a Pesach would not end with The Lord’s Supper.
gotti yay for the good news for DH!
Ok, I shall check on a couple other things and then it’s beddy bye time. Da bear is tahrd!
