It’s performance appraisal time at irk, with the first step being a listing of your workplace sins for the last year. Seppuku looks awfully tempting in comparison…
Blurf.
New job has crazy hours, and I’ve been blurfing pretty much continuously for the last few weeks- the earliest start time is 2 ay emm (as today), and the latest finish is currently about 10 pee emm (maybe later if there’s still customers or mess to tidy). This means I may be getting up at midnight, then the following day getting home from irk at 11pm (not the other way, due to Laws 'n stuff, which this place actually seem to be aware of and adhere to! Hooray!). But yeah. Blurf.
The co-irkers are nice, the actual irk is not bad, it’s certainly a massively nicer irking environment than the dodgy securitatin’, but them hours are killer. It’s not been helped by redecorating, which is loud- though the house is now otherwise quiet and kitteh free, as the housemates and cats moved out two weeks back. Hence the redecoration.
I ain’t done much but a bit o’ gardenin’ and a lot o’ coughing for the last few weeks aside from sleeping every possible opportunity. Just a cold, not chikin pox, I got that as a kid; my bro got it, had two spots and felt a little poorly for an hour and got a week off school, then I got it in the holidays, got covered in horrid itchy spots, felt awful, and got better just in time for the holidays to end. Bah. I still feel cheated.
Have some assorted yays, boos, hugs and seasonal chocolate offerings, distribute as required.
I think that I was vaccinated for chicken pox. I had measles and the mumps, probably even the marthandables, the measles/mumps vaccine not being around during the Victorian period.
Dindin has been cooked, ingested, and the kitchen is clean. Go Me!
Nuts obviously we both have evile pox carriers for sibs.
flytrap my guess would be the chikin pox vaccine was not around when you were but a wee bud. The late 80s to early 90s is when, I think, the vaccine became widely available. Then again, for all I know you might have had it as an adult. I have no idea whether or not the vaccine does anything for adults who never had the poultry pox. I have had a mild case of shingles and got the vaccine for that cause if’n that was mild I do not want to know about severe.
Damnit
I logged into irk but didn’t realize my phone was off the hook.
I wondered why I wasn’t getting any calls.
The company logged me out which means I have missed calls.
Dammit!!!
All this talk of eggs and aigs got me wondering. How much are you all paying for a dozen of the little darlings?
Four to five bucks is the going rate around here.
At the beginning of the year, the State of California enacted some sort of new requirement on eggs - think it was a requirement that all eggs be “free-range.” As an industrial term, it doesn’t quite mean chickens are freely roaming around on the acreage, but it’s a seemingly better life for the chickens compared to being confined to tiny cages. The egg industry reacted violently to the new requirement and on January 1, the price for a dozen large eggs went crazy-high.
So they are eating roaches instead of cracked corn? :dubious:
I pay around $2 in the grocery store. I could get them from the Amish for about $3.
And on that note, I’m going to take a hot shower. I’ve been freezing for hours!!! *** MWAH!***
Work was busy, but I have beer and hockey. And T.G.I.T.
I’d pay $5 to throw a bale of peat moss at you.:p;)
Good luck, FCD!
Hey, Nut! glad the work’s better than the dodgy security job. You ever get you lost pay?
Sorry about the phone bit, sari.
rosie, love that recipe.
gotti, I pay $2.98 for 18. We go through a lot of huevos.
I had that ages ago and so did Herself; hers was more extensive needing three tiny cuts for entry, mine just one small one. Tell FCD for me that its a great excuse for those really kicking new boots he wants for riding as long as you don’t find out that its just an excuse.
Thus spoke Popeye???
Get them from the Amish but give them $5. Tell them the extra is from me.
Now I’ve got to go and talk to somebody else ------ my wife is getting suspicious.
distracting the wife
Good for you Doggio !
Howdy Y’all! Home from Maundy Thursday over to the church house. There was a larger crowd than I expected there would be. I actually had to go to the church 'puter and send a few more copies of the service bulletin over to the printer and fold 'em right quick. I done good. I did twenty and that was exactly what was needed. Go Me!
I pay three bucks for 18 aigs at the sto. I get free range aigs from a friend at irk and pay two bucks a dozen. Sometimes I get 'em free cause I save empty aig cartons for her and will also bring fruit and veggie peels to give to her cause she says “the girls” love 'em. A nice win-win there.
I’s tahrd and shall soon go beddy bye.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
I’ve never had the chicken pox, according to the shots/disease records Mom left behind. And I was even pre vaccine!
Aigs here have been running 1.50-1.90 a dozen, but I get them occasionally from the produce stand just out of town. Last year they were running 3 a dozen but I expect they’ll go up this year.
That sucked.
Canes lost?
Beaten like rented mules
I’m in the process of moving into a new apartment. Tomorrow, since I have Good Friday off, I have scheduled delivery of a couch from one furniture store and a mattress set from another. Oh, and the Verizon Fios guy is coming to install service, and they are all supposed to arrive between 11-2. And it’s supposed to rain.
I put the odds of this going off without a hitch at about 10%. I must have been crazy when I set this up.
Isn’t that a Mike Lange-ism? And something about selling a monkey for the good times.
Or planning on making up the security deposit and more with some wild betting action in some sleazy off-shore casino. Personally I like my version better.
Maybe.
My tax refund showed up. I dunno whether to renew my season tix, or just hire a goon to kick me in the nuts 43 times next year.
