Rhyming Haiku Madness

A variation on the Haiku Madness game. The first and the third lines of five syllables must rhyme. The next poster turns the middle seven syllable line into a five syllable line, makes up a new seven syllable middle line, and makes up a third five syllable line that rhymes with the first line. The next poster works off the seven syllable line, yada, yada, yada.

I’ve started this game.
I hope it goes well and you
Do not find it lame.

It hope it goes well,
But for a thread of this sort?
Too early to tell.

But for a thread – this?
Darn hard for my little brain.
Done. Feels like a kiss.

Damn hard for my brain.
Will this thread succeed or crash
Like a railroad train?

Succeed or crash,
There seem to be no middle ground:
Benison or bash.

No middle ground seems
To be how politics is
Now from what I see.

How politics is
Well, the world seems crazy now.
It’s all wacky biz.

Well, the world seems Cra-
Cra, that’s how the kids say it
For that is their way

That’s how the kids say
They’re afraid the world won’t last
Longer than today

The world won’t last long-
er than 4 billion or so
years. I could be wrong.

4 billion, or so,
Said Carl Sagan on Cosmos.
He looked like Frodo.

Sagan on Cosmos
He counted in English and
Spanish: Uno, dos

counted in English
One, two, three, four, five, and six
Sure makes me tinglish

One, two, three, four, five
six, seven. I’m so glad this
thread is still alive.

Seven is glad six
Didn’t one two eat nine, four
Six, like five, got sick.

Didn’t one eat two?
Like my friend at Mickey D’s
munching burgers - whew!

Friend at Micky D’s
Ate two Big Macs, large fries, tea
A mess when he sneezed.

Big Mac, fries, large tea
Filled my stomach to the max
Now I’ve got to pee

Filled my stomach to
Make it through the day without
Taking food anew.

The day I make it
I’ll have a chicken dinner.
Shake it and bake it.
