I don’t know. That’s part of who he was, and he was much younger then. If he were my son, I’d be amused at the story and proud of his growth since then. And I’d be delighted to know that a TMI posting was remembered and made into a humorous epitaph all those years later.
Sure, we should all make the decision as to whether Autolycus’ early posts would embarrass him. The risk of potentially embarrassing him is so minor compared to this board’s grief and accolades. After all, he’s dead so we need to make those decisions for him. But his parents are so totally cool, these remembrances will be so much more important than any potential for embarrassing details to surface. We’re completely justified in substituting our judgment for Autolycus’.
When I first joined the SDMB, I remember Auto’s stories about working in a sushi restaurant. And I loved that he was unafraid to stand up for people at times.
Oh my goodness, I need to get out of the Elections forum so I don’t miss these announcements. So sorry to hear about Autolycus; I really enjoyed his posts.
