RIP Garfield and Friends?

Is Garfield and Friends gone for good on DVD, or will there be another DVD edition in the foreseeable future? Does 20th Century Fox announce future DVD releases in advance? I’d rather not plunk down $100 for the complete five seasons.

I’d rather you didn’t, either.

I’m still waiting for the rest of The Muppet Show and the rest of The Gummi Bears on DVD. Having only half of them out there is frustrating.

Hell, if it doesn’t have director commentary on the US Acres segments, count me out!

If this is snark about the purchase being not worthwhile, that would be threadshitting, and since you know better than that, I’m sure you meant something else. Not sure what, though.

GreenElf - I suggest you start hanging out at Mark Evanier’s website POVOnline. There’s lots of interesting stuff there to read, he puts out a blog about show business topics in general, and cartoons, and comic books (Mark writes Groo, for example) and… well, it’s an interesting site.

Mark is the primary writer for Garfield on TV - both Garfield and Friends and the current The Garfield Show. If there’s anything new coming up on DVD releases, he’d be your best source for information.

Used copies of all five volumes are plentiful on Amazon for about $25 each. Just because you don’t want to spend that much doesn’t change the fact that that’s how much they cost. And even if they were to be re-released (which isn’t impossible, I agree), the cost would probably be about the same.

If you want them, make the leap at $25 each.

But I have a lot of other things to spend money on. I’d rather pay under $10 each during an Amazon sale, which could happen if they’re restocked or released in a new edition within the next year. People were paying over $100 for a Tron DVD last winter, and it’s since been restocked.

Thank you, I’ll check that out.

Definitely not snark-I’m a Mark Evanier fan from way back. Sorry I got sidetracked, but Amazon.com has all five volumes(which covers all seven seasons) available new the last time I checked, and sources say that Walmart has been known to stock the complete set occasionally.
