RO: Glenn Beck compares Utøya murder victims to Hitler Youth

What makes you so sure that he’s not an anti-Semite? Assuming that he singles out Israel for disproportionate criticism (and I do not know if this is the case), then what is the reason?

Young Democrats

YD High School Caucus.

College Democrats.

Young Republicans.

Teenage Republicans.

College Republicans.

Young Americans for Freedom.

Young Communist League.

The criticism is not disproportionate and the reasons are roughly the same as those for opposing Apartheid.

Lol, a brilliant comeback.

And if you were evenhanded about it, I wouldn’t have a big problem with it.

For example:

Many of the world’s developed countries, including Canada, Western Europe, Israel, and many US States make it difficult or impossible for ordinary citizens to easily obtain and carry firearms. Thus they are all a little like Nazi Germany.

I don’t know if that’s true or not, but assuming for the sake of argument that Carter is evenhanded in his criticism of different countries, then I would not conclude he is an anti-Semite based on the fact that he criticizes Israel.

 Chen019, please.

That is neither what I said nor in any way relevant to “disproportionate criticism.”

btw. I’m honored, I think, that Beck made Geert Wilders Danish. Wonder why so many people confuse Denmark for the Netherlands. Can it be just because of the slight resemblance of Dutch and Danish?

I don’t understand your point. Either he is even-handed (which would be pretty unusual but it probably happens once in a while) or his criticism of Israel is disproportionate. What other possibilities are there? I suppose it’s possible that he criticizes Israel proportionately less than other countries.

Good. You take him.

It should be quite obvious that criticism should be proportional to the severeness of object of the critique. You also quite obviously do not see that.

Arresting and jailing a mugger is not disproportional just because some other guy got away with it.

Ok, I get it now. The Dutch are waging a nefarious international public relations campaign to associate all their embarrassing bits with Denmark, and no doubt steal our many glorious achievements as their own too.

We’ve already got tall blond women of our own, but I just don’t like Wilders.

Wait!

::Grabs notebook, sharpens pencil, put on eyeglasses::

Ready. Now tell me, what are these?

From now on, convicted muggers of Race X will get 30 years in jail and convicted muggers of Race Y will get 1 year in jail. Further, we will investigate 90% of the muggings where the perpetrator is alleged to be of Race X and 10% of the muggings where the perpetrator is alleged to be of Race Y.

Any complaints that this policy is motivated by racism will be referred to Superfluous Parenthesis.

Have a nice day.

I see your point. Of course muggers of race X should also only get 1 year in jail 10% of the time. Any criticism of this view point will make you biased against race X.

Yes, for a tall blond woman he sure looks ugly.

Me.

I don’t think he’s all that tall and he dyes his hair.

Yikes! A bottle blonde in high heels. What a fake! No wonder you don’t like him.

Perhaps, but that’s a different question. You were analogizing incarceration of muggers to criticism of nations. Criticism of policies regarding incarceration of muggers does not really fit into your analogy.
