Dogbutler, spiderman, anyone else who is interested, these are what we should introduce to the cement pond.
They can wait…and wait…and wait.

Off to bed - TAHRED!!!
Too tired to be motivated to eat an actual meal, but if I don’t eat, I’ll have problems sleeping.
ahem pot, meet kettle. I seem to recall someone who never slept in while retired. Who even un-retired…
Let’s see a few quick highlights from the journey.
I, with my natural gifts and talent, rented a slightly smaller U-haul trailer than we really needed for the last bits and pieces and the assorted things we’re living on until the moving folks get here with our real stuff. We spent most of our first travel day packing and re-packing, while my parents muttered about having to drive up in 2 weeks to bring us our possessions and I frantically assured them that I would come back and get it. This meant that we did not make Redding, our first night destination. (That would have been about half way.)
We made Vacaville and stayed in a nasty disgusting reeking horrid piece of sh*t hotel. Well, it was what we could find and it took pets. I was glad to have it and cheerfully multi-parked across a gajillion spots in the back 40.
The next day we drove the rest of the way and made it to our house about 9pm and couldn’t find the key. We called a locksmith, waited an hour, and he found it just before picking the lock. :smack:
May I say, and I know we’re not usually political here on the MMP, that we spent a lot of the drive listening to talk radio on various stations. I was absolutely gobsmacked by the shenanigans on all sides this week. At least it was an entertaining drive. ![]()
Still waiting on our stuff, but happy to be here. It was 101 Amurkin here today, but that beats 116!
blurf but TGIF
'Twas a longgggg and hard week. I have the weekend off. Yay.
Rosie’s sig to all!
Sari. Check your PM’s.
I kinda, sorta used to live there. :dubious:
I left irk at just the right time. Walked outside & the sky was all kinda scary colors of black & grey. Walked into the garage & up one flight of stairs; before I could see my car, I could see out the big cement winder openings that it was now raining horizontally. By the time I got outta the garage & thru the light onto the main road it stopped, but then I needed wipers on high for parts of the trip home. Good electrical show, too.
Did I know that?
Had magic Internet Doner kebab tonight, because I didn’t want to cook and didn’t want pizza. Trent got a nice tip for driving out here to the country. (But am I really in the country when a pleasant young person will bring me kebab, or pad Thai, or sushi, or whatever, in return for a small delivery fee?)
Worried about the flooding around Baton Rouge. My two biggest kids are safe and dry, but it’s still raining. And for the first time ever in the 47 years they’ve lived there, my former in-laws had water in their house. At last report, before they left for higher ground this afternoon, it was 6"-8" inside. All of that is rough on anyone, but they’re both about 80, he’s diabetic, and she recently had knee replacement. I hope things work out for them.
Happy Saturday!
It’s a dark 78 degrees outside.
Up too early again
I’ve been up since about 2am.
Butters, I read and will get back to you when I’m more awake.
Today is Saturday, right? It feels like it was just Saturday yesterday.
Today is grocery day. I hate going on a Saturday but Sah-son is out of food. If he wasn’t such a picky eater we’d be able to go at least another week without shopping.
I’m going to try to get a bit more sleep.
Up and more or less functional. I was asleep before 9 and made it to 4 before my bladder intervened. Then dozing on and off till 6:30-ish, so I’m feeling human again. When I let Higgs out, I set up the sprinkler to water the garden around the shed - specifically to give the new azaleas a drink. Both have been looking droopy - I hope this isn’t too late to save them.
Today’s big adventure is hauling trash and recycling to the convenience center. I may go for a haircut, too. I doubt that anything else will happen outside. It’s supposed to be the worst, hottest day of this stretch of hell.
**sari **- give the boy a car key and let him buy his own groceries. Yeah, I’m mean that way.
**sunny **- don’t give me crap - I can harass **swampy **all I want, so there!
Happy Saturday, all!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a cloudy 73 Amurrkin out but clearin’ up with a predicted high of 92 and maybe rain late this afternoon. The big plan for the day is haircuts and some quality cee-mint pond time. Both of us are gettin’ a little shaggy thus the need for some haid mowin’ and edgin’. Steaks are marinatin’ for dindin.
I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. I suppose I should also purtify to be seen in the public as well.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
I’m German, not Swiss. There will be no yodeling. There will be a blue ceramic owl, though.
Now that I think of it, I have vacation coming up week after next. I’ll go up a big mountain then. This weekend will be waterfall time. And haircut time. And new library card time. (My Bunco card expired so now I have to be a real resident of Hendo county.) But first Waffle House time because I find myself in need of some fine dinin’.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Busy vacation day today.
BigKitty sometimes ya just gotta have haute cuisine.
I’m on a road trip now. I’m en route to the Lehigh River to go whitewater rafting with the sprog and his Boy Scout troop. It was a last-minute thing and after the week I had, it’s just what the doctor ordered.
Howdy Y’all! We have mowed and edged haids. We were the first ones there so in and out in twenty minutes. Then we got a McBizkit. OYKW has opted for some quality mattress time. Thus goeth the mornin’.
Rockin’ have fun!
Have fun unpacking, sunny!
Speaking of which, I’m almost finished.
Happy Saturday!
Trash and recycling have been dispatched, plus I rinsed out both trash cans because the trash bags leaked and the cans had gross liquid in the bottom. They’re in the sun drying right now. I ran the sprinkler way too long, but my azaleas have perked up, so that’s good. We went to breakfast and got a new server who SUCKED!!! I had to go find the owner and ask if we could get served. I lurves Irene - she takes care of us.
But the idiot server took our order, then carried around the ticket for 20 minutes before giving it to the cooks! Then we had to flag her to get drink refills and get our ticket, which she got wrong. I’m usually a great tipper, but she got barely 10%. I wish they’d put us at Layne’s table - he always takes care of us.
After eating, we stopped at the hardware store and I bought a couple of dowels for a new pottery-making tool that we discussed while waiting and waiting and waiting for breakfast. Then we came home and my sweetie cut and marked up a base board that I drilled for the dowel pieces that I’d cut up. Later today, I’ll try it out.
But for the moment, I have some correspondence to deal with. So I shall correspond.
Blurf.
I think by tomorrow morning I’ll have watched enough Doctor Who to hold me until the Christmas episode.
My Boy just left with his final boxes. Hugged his sisters and fed the dog one more piece of cheese on his way out the door. I’ll be over at the apartment in a couple of hours with a grocery and pizza delivery for the Gang of Four. He’s just across town. But still. My sweet, fat little baby boy isn’t coming home tonight, and I am proud and heartbroken.
And, in keeping with the theme of the MMP, The Fellow is leaving for an Old Farts meet-up in the Big City after I get back from the grocery store and pizza delivery. I hope he has fun, but man, am I glad to have a good excuse to avoid the drive to Atlanta, visiting the radio parts store, and meeting with a couple of dozen folks discussing the intracacies (sp?) of ham radio!
