Robert Duvall role in The Naked City [edited title]

I watched Robert Duvall in an episode of Naked City.
He had a bald spot in 1958.

What? Don’t do that. I saw the Subject line and thought Robert Duvall died. The post itself didn’t help. I had to go to IMDB to see that he was still alive. Context please.

I also thought it was a death announcement.

Even worse, it was a bald spot announcement.

It wasn’t just you.

Well, that was the fashion at the time.

He’s a middle aged version Dick Clark…has not aged a day in 60 years

And if I were an actor, I’d still take his career. Even when he’s in bad movies, he makes a part of them good.

Like Ebert’s “Stanton/Walsh” rule, which should be amended to add Duvall.

Yeah, but otherwise he didn’t look old enough to drive.

A simple hover over (or even click) would have fixed that concern even faster than going to imdb.

Gene Hackman is another actor like that (i.e., perpetually middle-aged) as was Walter Matthau.

Robert Duvall was born 40 years old.

He didn’t look old enough to shave. The actor was familiar as hell, but I had to see the credits to discover who he was.

He did yeoman duty in TV before making the break into film. Did The Fugitive, Outer Limits, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Time Tunnel and many more!

Well, ok, he is old enough to shave.

If the title troubles people, perhaps a moderator could change it to “Robert Duvall role in The Naked City”.

Thanks.

Title changed at OP’s request.

I am always amused at how “old” actors in the 1940s-1960s look, even when they are 20-somethings playing a 20-something. There’s (uh) something about the hair styles and clothing and such that irresistibly makes me think of my father and other men of that generation.

Thank you.

I’ve been watching 1950s private detective shows, and David Janssen looks as though he dipped his head into a barrel of 10W40.

Well, Hackman didn’t start getting on air roles until his 30’s. He was 37 when he had his breakout role in Bonnie and Clyde.
