Robertson + Falwell: It's the Liberals' Fault . . .

Pop quiz, Pat and Jerry. Was this act of terrorism performed by:

a.) people who were interested in the protection of civil liberties, including creating an environment in which people of all faiths can comfortably coexist, or

b.) religious nutcases?

I say that when we catch Bin Laden (assuming he is behind this), we lock him in a small, remote cell with Falwell, Robertson, and Fred Phelps. Maybe they’ll have a lot to talk about. Maybe Bin Laden will be driven to hang himself. Maybe it will turn into a full-on no-holes-barred four-man sodomy-fest. I can’t see us coming out as the losers any way it goes.

What does Carrot Top think?

Or the third-string Defensive Tackle on the Arizona Cardinals?

I care as much.

Okay, we have verification. Commence vomiting now.

Seriously, I can’t believe even they would say this.

When exactly was God in schools? I don’t understand when all the public schools were Chrstian based, then changed with the “evil” ACLU
[/hijack]

Carrot Top thinks this is the fault of people dialing “0”

This quote really pisses me off. It must be nice to have your own platform where the only guests you have agree with you and don’t challenge your way of thinking at all, and when you make outrageous claims, no one calls on you to back them up. Must really be nice to have a protective bubble from critisism.

No mention of the terrorists’ responsibility in this. He simply points his self-righteous finger at the people whose ideologies differ from his and say they’re to blame with no reasons to back it up, other than the abotionists “making God mad” - which BTW is another peeve of mine. How dare anyone claim they know the mind of God? Maybe using a national tragedy to push your own agenda pisses off God. Maybe putting words in God’s mouth pisses off God.

I’d like to believe God didn’t do this to punish anyone. Maybe God let free will run its course and now we have an opportunity to show how good we can be as human beings in the face of evil. People from all backgrounds are joining forces in NY and Washington to help any way they can. They don’t care what religion each other are, their stance on abortion or prayer in school. Their thought is the possibility that there are lives to saved. These people are doing far more good than this self-aggrandizing posturing repressed sphincter sniffer.

Hey, Falwell and Robertson, you want to help this country? Get your asses to NY or Washington and start clearing away some rubble. Maybe then you’ll be too tired to spew any more filth.

I’ll proudly call myself a Christian, but I’ll just as proudly exclaim I’m not Falwell’s kind of Christian.

The first time we’ve been attacked? What the hell happened to the /last/ time the WTC was bombed?

“Free society”…Hey Pat, I don’t think that means what you think it means. Asshole.

I say we put them, Bin Laden, and Hussein all in the same room for 24 hours. Whoever lives, we shoot.

Jerry should get hisself a history book and look up ‘Pearl Harbor’. And in 1812, didn’t Washington get burned to the ground?

Hawaii wasn’t a state then. I am so embarrassed

But it was US territory. So it does count as an attack on American soil.

I couldn’t keep reading…the minute I got to “The ACLU’s got to take alot of blame for this” I just burst out laughing.

They don’t deserve a minute more of my time than it takes for me to laugh at them.

No, it’s the women’s fault. Both Rush and Dr. Laura have blamed the “feminization” of
America for weaking the military. National Review also blames the presence of women in the military.

I’d agree with you, Milo, except that tens of millions of people hand on their words. That’s why it’s necessary to get the word out on these guys.

And, IMO, this will lose Pat some fans, if it circulates: Falwell’s support may be pretty much down to the nutcases already, but Pat Robertson has a strong following among a great many otherwise sane people. That Robertson even still considers Falwell a viable guest on his show kind of astounds me in itself.

That shoulda been ‘hang’ on their words’. Ah well.

Here’s some confirm from todays Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28620-2001Sep14.html

I sent the follwing e-mail to President Bush:
As you likely already know, Pat Robertson and Jerry Fallwell have placed blame for the heinous
terrorist attacks of September 11th on the ACLU, abortionists, pagans, and essentially all non-Christians.

It is my belief that in the past you have welcomed the support of the Christian Coalition at election time. From
this moment forward you must not do so. Robertson has in the past made it clear that he does not believe
in a society free to people of all religions as well as those of no religion, and his and Fallwell’s statements
confirm that. Unless you drop all associations with the Christian Coalition myself and likely millions of
voters will be forced to believe that you to favor a religious state instead of a secular one, thereby violating clearly the 1st ammendment of the Constitution. The kind of state where it is illegal to be pagan/Muslim/athiest. I do
not believe that you truly feel this way, and demand that you discontinue your political usage of the Christian Coalition.

Now is a time for unity amongst all the residents of the United States of America, however Robertson would
prefer that it be a time of divisivness. He would prefer we point fingers, blame non-Christians, and make this
a religious state. I think you can see this is not the type of person you should be associated with.

Well, PESCH beat me to the punch. I was trying to figure out how to create a link to the Washington Post and I decided to check and see if anyone else had posted about it. I guess I’m not much of a creationist.

I honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I read that bilge. I decided on a smirking shudder.
I’ve been up all night and that farticle finished me. Good day, fellow terrorists. Just remember, our work is not done. We have to prepare to take the blame for whatever else may happen!
Rick

A-fucking-men.

Oops. I just swore while saying Amen . . . does that make Baby Jesus cry?

No, it makes Baby Jesus go: :stuck_out_tongue:

Just because they claim to Christian, doesn’t make it so (Mat 7:22-23). Claiming Christ falsely does make the Baby Jesus cry.

I’m glad this is in the Pit. I wanted to say this elsewhere, but decorum (and filtering software) prevented me.

Hey Jerry and Pat~ FUCK YOU!!!

“The ACLU made God real mad and he let us get all blowed up”

I saw this bilge on CNN last night as a running quote along the bottom and a nearly shit myself. Does Falwell actually believe that spewing hate is the solution? He points his finger at the ACLU? I point mine at him and say that hatred and bigotry are what has gotten us into the mess to begin with. If we bow down to it and begin to hate and distrust everyone different from us we won’t need die to go to hell, we’ll live it.

I am frightened for the soul of the United States, but I would never let it be diminished in my heart.

I started a similar thread about this in GD, but I’ll save the venom for the Pit…

Y’know, as horrible as the terrorist attacks and the aftermath have been, I’ve done a reasonably good job of keeping myself under control.

When Saddam Hussein said he was glad that America attacked, I brushed him off because he’s a nutball idiot.

When they were showing clips of Palestinians dancing in the streets, I dismissed them as tasteless idiots.

But when I heard about what Falwell and Robertson said, my first reaction was to wish that someone could shoot them. Those idiot fuckers live in this country and reap big-time from its protections – how can they take a tragedy like this and try to use it to push their own hate-filled agendas? THAT PISSES ME OFF!

Then I calmed down, and decided that I didn’t want to shoot them, because I’m a nice, pacifist liberal kind’a guy.

Now I just wanna punch them in the face and send them on a one-way trip to Siberia.

Anyone wanna start a collection?
