Now, I was expecting perhaps the Lincoln Project or some other conservative PAC trying to stem the hemorrhaging of Gen Z voters, but I was not expecting…
Log Cabin Republicans, which describes itself as the country’s largest Republican organization dedicated to “representing LGBT conservatives and allies,” spoke out against a video shared by DeSantis’ rapid response team – @DeSantisWarRoom – that surveys his efforts backing anti-trans laws.
They’re still around?! Holy Toledo…these guys used to raise money to build the gas ovens that they were going to be exterminated in.
The really bizarre part is the “muscular shirtless men” segment of the clip. OK, maybe it’s not so bizarre given the various historical incidents (e.g. Larry “Tappy Toes” Craig) that suggest that utterance of anti-gay vitriol is a backdoor way of coming out of the closet.
That video is weird and creepy as fuck. For those who can’t see the twitter link in the article, you can see the video on the Fox News site about half way down the page: DeSantis campaign attacks Trump with Pride Month Twitter video | Fox News
First, do they know what “draconian” means? And why are there shots of glistening bodybuilders? And Patrick Bateman (American Psycho)? They think “the governor doesn’t care” is a good slogan? It’s a lot to unpack.
As I’ve said on other threads on the SDMB about DeSantis, New College is my alma mater. Take a look at the Doonesbury comic on Sunday, June 25. It’s about what DeSantis is doing to New College. (The Doonesbury comics on Sundays are new, unlike the ones on the other days of the week which are all from years ago.)
That campaign ad was hard to watch. Not just because of the message, I mean it was physically hard to watch. The quick cuts and pulsing sound track started giving me a headache about 30 seconds in.
Meanwhile, getting homeowner’s insurance in Florida just got a lot harder, since Farmers has pulled out of the state.
And inflation is hitting Florida harder than the rest of the country.
Add in the fact that as of July 1st permitless concealed carry is now legal in the state, making some notable spree killing more likely, and the ridiculously hot temperatures portend some huge hurricanes possibly coming in the late summer, and ron is going to have such a lovely time defending his record.
Most politicians understand that being VP is a common stepping stone to become president. DeSantis is 44 years old. Trump can only be president for one more term which would put DeSantis in the front runner position when he’s 49. Still young for a presidential candidate.
I still think there is zero chance he ends up in the #2 slot for the GOP in 2024.
I also think he will be seriously damaged goods by the time the primaries are done. For starters it will be interesting to see how he weathers hurricane season this year given the increasingly volatile climate situation. And Farmers pulling out of Florida is going to hurt. They are the 4th major insurer to quit the state. Doubtful that DeSantis will handle any of that very well.
