Backatcha!
The new history texts approved for Florida’s State Indoctrination Facilities will teach children that slavemasters provided their property with on-the-job training and teaches both sides of the KKK.
Something from May. Gotta keep the travel records secret. Folks might think he’s out of Florida a bit too much. Same with meetings with the big donors. He needs protection from all the WOKE WOKE WOKE (like cooties or something) out there.
Does anybody want to guess who’s going to get blamed by these scum for this?
< raises hand >
People from other states who have absolutely nothing to do with Florida?
I was thinking more of people from certain states to the south and southwest of Florida
Just dropped in to post about that if no one else had yet, and I’m still too gobsmacked to formulate a sufficiently furious reaction.
I used to think this was a good, decent country overall, even with all the hard truths about its dark side, but these days that belief has eroded almost entirely, as I see how many people embrace so much vicious bigotry and cruelty, even glory in it.
As long as stupid shit like that is controversial, this is still overall a good country in my opinion. It just has a lot of bad people in it.
But is it controversial, really, outside of blue enclaves? When damn near half the country would happily re-elect Trump? When crap like this gets codified by state authorities with the power to force it on everyone within their remit?
It’s only not controversial in red conclaves.
Rachel Carson?
Those conclaves aren’t exactly tiny
Like Hemorrhoids, they just seem big.
They’re inflamed, they’re itching to cause trouble, and they’re most full of shit or shit-adjacent. Yep. Hemmorhoids pretty well describes them.
The problem is that these things are controversial. In a sane world, there wouldn’t be any controversy; everyone would just agree on basic truths like “slavery is bad”. And if one person was somehow deranged enough to say that slavery was good, everyone else would tell them that they were deranged. “Controversies” are things that have two sides. Some things really shouldn’t.
Meatball could go for the senior vote by getting an impersonator to coach him on a Paul Lynde voice. He’s about 90% there already.
Well, evidently he’s no longer concerned about the military vote. Check out this insanity:
Florida Democrats say they’re spending and organizing to chase down people who vote by mail after election officials across the state canceled all standing mail ballot requests this year.
The mass cancellations were to comply with a 2021 election law that added new restrictions to mail-in voting. The legislation — which was celebrated by Gov. Ron DeSantis and slammed by voting rights advocates as discriminatory — cut the duration of mail-in ballot requests in half from four years to two. It also required that existing requests for mail ballots be canceled at the end of 2022, forcing election workers to cancel millions of requests and start their lists of vote-by-mail voters from scratch.
So, besides the other people screwed over by this stupidity, military members and dependents stationed outside of the state–to include those overseas and those at sea–are now effectively disenfranchised.
The smaller the total number of votes, the smaller the amount of fakery required to change the outcome to the “correct” one. All bog standard Fascism.
My own standing mail-in ballot request was among those cancelled by Ron DeFurher’s minions.
Did they give a reason?
