Look, you can’t just spew out blatantly racist shit like that and expect to keep your job…
… unless, of course, you’re the president of the United States.
Right now the “Laff Channel” indicates that it’s running an old episode of Roseanne, but when I checked it, nope, it was showing Night Court instead.
Well, him and Laurie Metcalf. She was Oscar-nominated for her role in Lady Bird last year and she was on Broadway in Three Tall Women recently.
Well Emma Kenney plays Debbie Gallagher on Shameless and Laurie Metcalf has a recurring role as Mary Cooper on The Big Bang Theory.
Ironically the episode description is for the were DJ doesn’t want to kiss a girl*, who happens to be Black, in a school play.
*Same girl he ended up marrying.
And AIUI, Sara Gilbert’s had a successful career as a producer.
Gilbert, Chalke and Metcalfe in particular will be okay. They all had very long runs with successful series. Gilbert and Metcalfe in particular were making HUGE amounts the last couple seasons of the original Roseanne series. I’m sure all three are more or less quite comfortably set for life.
The others are going to vary on a sliding scale, but it is new, younger actors that are really going to take it on the chin.
BTW, if you weren’t watching “The Middle” (which just ended its 9 year run). It was also about a family that lived in “flyover country” (Indiana), that was struggling with not enough money, and had a loving family with positive family values. (Things that broke stayed broken in the Heck household). The Connors & Hecks were in very similar demographics. It was also funny.
It is a very well done show. Watch an episode or two.
And, of course, the Onion has the perfect thing to say about it.
Good riddance to that worthless cunt.
All that plastic surgery couldn’t stop her inherent hideousness from shining through.
Piling on here because I’ve always found her to be a repulsive person, and a vastly overrated comedienne. I’m loving this.
Her show was big when we were students here in the early 1990s, and the wife loved it at the time. She’s since become ashamed she was ever a fan.
Sara Gilbert is the creator and co-executive producer of The Talk, CBS’s answer to ABC’s The View, so she’ll have a soft landing.
YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! x
21st Century Fox is somewhat independent of Fox News, etc.
Also, Disney and Comcast are bidding on buying it and neither would be interested in keeping it around. No point in making new episodes that might never air.
In addition, the other cast members won’t want to deal with all this.
After last night’s Twitter-storm, I don’t see anybody giving her a job on TV for the foreseeable future. 100 tweets, blaming Ambien, liberals, Jews, cowardly co-stars, etc. Quite a display.
Yeah, she blamed the Ambien and then doubled down on the stupid.
That’s what happens when you go full-on Michael Richards.
And we see here someone that failed to notice that she was not Too Big To Take Down.
The retroactive purges of some entertainers’ material do raise question of fairness for the other players. I’m sure there’s a thread about that, gotta look for it to comment. But then again, life’s not fair.
Right – you can do this theme without having to pander to a notion that it takes tolerating a trashy worldview or assholish lashing-out conduct.
Though in that sense one can see how for the networks and the “creatives”, trying to create a show humanizing the Flyover-White-Working-Class MAGA demographic from scratch would be painful and the product not feel genuine (and many in their community would ask “Why would you want to do THAT?? You’re NORMALIZING!!!”), unless they were able to reach for an already well established tried and tested canon: Roseanne. A familiar, reasonably well received pre-created universe where you can see how plausibly people like the Connors who are essentially good-hearted could be led to become modern-day Trump voters.
For what it’s worth, I’ve taken Ambien many times, and it has never made me racist. Also, the Ambien made me do it defense might be more believable if the statements were not entirely consistent with many of her other statements in the past.
No, no. I’m sure if you read closely, it’s there in the list of side effects alongside constipation and dry mouth.
