While I don’t especially buy the Ambien excuse, it was hilarious to read a screed posted elsewhere last night where the forum poster was saying the Planet of the Apes reference was actually about the dystopian world and its reflection on the ideologies of Jarrett and True Conservatives understood its deeply layered meta-context while only liberals rushed to call racism. Now imagine that stretched into ten paragraphs.
So then this morning, after all that work to try to convince the world how insightful and nuanced Barr was being, we get “I was fucked up on Ambien”.
It’s possible she gets another show but not right away. Don Imus got fired from his radio show for his “nappy headed women” talk and was back on the air less than a year later. He just retired a few months ago.
My thought is that something like Fox will snap her right up. Put her in a realistic show where Dan drops dead because he can’t afford medication, her gay grandson gets his teeth kicked out when he shows up at school in a pink spring frock, and here black grand daughter gets beaten up by Nazis. She is free, free to leave Lanford and go back to Denver (where she actually came from IRL). She meets Tim Allen, ‘Last Dick Standing’, they hook up, move into a prepper cave and organize tRump rallies. What could go wrong?
It’s too bad. They were doing decent on the reboot. Contrary to what most people here assumed was happening, it wasn’t remotely a Trump love fest and did a good job at capturing the feel of the first run.
The trouble is that Roseanne has been super-nuts for years, and everyone knows it. She’s not going to “get” another show, because there’s no telling what she might do. I was surprised that this project lasted as long as it did, because Roseanne could have blown the whole thing up at any time. And I’m not just talking about saying stupid things in the media.
…because, if she was Jewish then it would be perfectly okay to call her the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and an ape. That wouldn’t be racist, or antisemitic, or hate speech at all… :dubious:
The statement from Sanofi (the makers of Ambien) was pretty funny, saying, in effect, “We are not taking the blame for this one.” Plus she said she had taken Ambien and was up at 2am tweeting. Wouldn’t that mean the Ambien wasn’t working? Wonder if that suggestion pissed them off too.
Right, because that’s just of the kind of show Fox likes - er, we are talking about the Fox where four of its top shows either feature predominantly black casts (Empire, Star) or liberal viewpoints (The Simpsons, Family Guy), right?
Actress Meredith Salenger posted a series of tweets last night about having taken Ambien and was waiting to see if it caused her to tweet racist things. At the end, she said that she had eaten two Twinkies. And Hostess replied to her that they didn’t blame her.
