Roseanne Part Two? No Thank You

Well, to the extent Trump is not a “conservative” at all, I would agree with you. I suppose we need a new name for America-hating deplorables.

Because she doesn’t support free trade or reducing the deficit? There are none of those conservatives anymore.

Would an extreme conservative go to school and support her gender fluid grandson? Would an extreme conservative ever utter the phrase “her body, her choice”?

And plenty of conservatives still around who support free trade. The Trump wing is not everything.

I heard that as sarcasm, throwing it in her sister’s face as a debate tool, not as an honest conviction. I could be wrong.

I don’t see how you could have read it that way. She said it grudgingly because was clearly pissed about her daughter’s choice but she knew she had to stand by the slogan.

Which is the extreme? The conservative who supports free trade, or the conservative who thinks liberals promote child prostitution?

One is a standard conservative economic position, the other is nutty conspiracy theory that is extremely crazy – not extremely conservative. Look Barr bought into the Hillary hate and Trump’s drain the swamp/blow up the system bullshit. But it’s populist bullshit not extreme conservative. She ran for the Green Party candidacy in 2012 for pete’s sake.

“Corporal punishment”? “Crossed a line”? “Abuse”?

:dubious:

All she did was hold Harris’s head in the sink and get her soaking wet. It wasn’t waterboarding, for f**k’s sake.

You missed the part where she grabbed the actor (who is portraying a teenager) by the neck, then held her in the sink while pinning her against the counter? Maybe it was meant to be slapstick, but it came across completely wrong.

Yeah, I wasn’t too sure about what to call them…I guess anything I picked was likely to ruffle feathers.

How else do you hold someone’s head in the sink and get them soaking wet? I don’t think it was “meant to be slapstick” at all. But it was FAR from corporal punishment or abuse. It didn’t come across completely wrong to me. shrug

You didn’t ruffle my feathers, you are just wrong. And anything accurate you used wouldn’t have made sense. “Oh, she’s a conspiracy theorist who believes the Dems run child sex slave rings, so obviously she believes in corporal punishment” doesn’t really work.

Why would you need to hold someone’s head in the sink though? I guess that caught me off guard… To me, it was a bit of a jump to go from bratty teenager behavior to head-in-sink.

You sure seem ruffled! She holds one extreme view regarding an opposing political party, so it doesn’t surprise me at all that she would subscribe to other social views commonly found on that end of the political spectrum as well.

I seemed ruffled? Was it the emotional language I used and all my wild hyperbole?

To make sure they get soaking wet…?

Nothing about that scene bothered me in the least. We’re going to have to agree to disagree about it.

Last night’s show had 15.2 million viewers. A drop from last week to be sure, but still the night’s most-watched program on any network.

The other revival, Will & Grace, dropped 32% after its first week.

I say she crossed a line mainly because she’s the grandparent and knew the parent wouldn’t approve, but holding Harris’s head down in the sink instead of just snacking her across the face with an open palm just came across as weird (and not really connected with what Harris did). I also don’t feel the least bit sorry for Harris or think it was child abuse.

Hopefully both will continue to drop, precipitously.

Barr isn’t funny. Never has been, never will be.

You’re welcome not to watch. Does SD have a threadcrapping rule?

Why hope for that? If it’s so bad people will stop watching. If it’s not, it just means people disagree with you. Either way, you can continue watching whatever you like to your heart’s content.
