“I don’t want to be a Beetle. I want to be a Rolling Stone.”
Wow. The show would be even weirder - hard as that is to conceive - if Bob Dylan had done the songs.
“Hey, Mr. Tambourine Elf, Make A Toy For Me”
“Slidin’ Down Heaven’s Chimney”
“A Hard Snow’s Gonna Fall”
“Checkin’ It Twice, It’s All Right”
Dylan actually did record a Christmas album, about 16 years ago. It was horrible. I mean, brainbleach me horrible.
I can understand your wanting to distance yourself from it, but it was only four years ago.
Now why did I think it was 1997? That’s just weird.
Maybe it was just a “misfit” album…?
I have a copy of Dylan’s Christmas album. I keep it for novelty value only.
Too bad there is no supernatural winged lion to go about gathering up the music in our collections that we don’t like —and then perhaps later gifting it to someone else who might appreciate the sounds.
Bob Dylan is looking more like Vincent Price nowadays.
I don’t know of too many “Rudolph” holiday songs that have actually been covered by bands since the show first aired… but this version of “Silver & Gold” by Faith & Disease is awesome:
Silver & Gold
On Friday I will have the traditional playing of The Partrige Family Christmas Album.
Come to think of it, Sam the Snowman sounds and looks disturbingly like Big Daddy from Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.
hmmmm.
And in the scene where Hermie decides he won’t fit in as an elf, then he crawls out the window, why is there a bookcase with shelves full of vases?
What child ever asked for a vase for Christmas? Is there an Island Of Misfit Pottery?
I think NOT.
Can’t give the naughty kids coal EVERY year.
Good point.
You can’t see it even with HD, but every one of those vases has a hole in it.
That seems to be Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys, which is not the same. I couldn’t find Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on ABC Family at all.
I do wonder what the hell CBS is thinking. Do they get it for cheaper prior to December?
Hal, I saw this the other day & thought of you & the Littlest Briston… Who I guess is not so little anymore!
