Rudy Giuliani in critical condition in Florida hospital [Now in the BBQ Pit]

Okay, here you go.

Seems to be doing better.

Though I like the Daily Kos spin:

Thank you; nuance is of course important, and I appreciate you adding it.

I remember those pictures. Some people wondered if he had shingles (unlikely, because he would be too sick to appear in public) or some kind of skin rash that’s not unusual in someone his age, and possibly with his “hygiene.”

Nope, that’s not how it works, at least in my jurisdiction. Speaking as one who has been an executor for two estates recently.

Upon death, everything the person owns then becomes property of the estate. The executor must then manage the estate, ensuring that all debts are paid (credit card, loans, etc. And especially TAXES) The estate must also go to probate court (if the assets are high enough). Probate court decides if the will is correct and legal. Once debts are paid and probate is given, the executor must then liquidate all assets (or not if assets are directly given to heir) and distribute them according to the will. ONLY THEN do the heirs see anything.

The estate is a legal entity. The heirs see not a penny until the executor finalizes the finances and then make distributions.

Ignoring any specifics about idjit trump, why do you think anyone suffering from shingles would be too sick to appear in public?

I’ve had an outbreak of shingles. I was younger then than idjit is now, about 58. It was a minor annoyance. I had a big itchy rash patch and otherwise was completely able to do my daily activities normally. After a couple weeks it went away. Yawn.

There certainly can be more severe infections & significant follow-on problems. But that doesn’t have to happen.

I believe shingles symptoms are typically more severe the older the sufferer is. At Trump’s age, that could be debilitating.

If it manifests around the eyes, the sufferer could be effectively blind for the duration of the illness. I have a friend in his 70s who had that happen and could barely see for about two weeks. Even in other areas of the body it can be quite painful.

I had shingles at age 45, it was painful and certainly made me feel very tired for someone at that age in otherwise rude health. My mother had it around the same time at age 74. She was completely knocked out. It was agonizing, full body pain. And my mother does not complain about much.

She didn’t get it from me. We were 500 miles apart.

But I was told not to go to the office because there were a lot of women of childbearing age there. And apparently it can cause significant issues for unvaccinated pregnant women who have not had chickenpox as children. Googling, I see that maybe this is now considered less of a concern now. I stayed home for a week after the doctors visit.

If he wasn’t already:

You were VERY fortunate. Probably 90% of the people I’ve known who had shingles were incapacitated by it.

See a thread about several of our board members having experiences from bad, to terrible in @Magiver’s case:

Back to Ghouliani though. No specific mentions from the press about the underlying reasons - is this just from the consequences of his general age (no ageist shaming)? Is it because of any other of his pit-worthy excesses (drinking at the least)? Some other lung issue (his claims of damage from 9/11 or otherwise)?

Granted, I don’t care what grubby issues drag off his miserable excuse for a soul (back to the Pit), but if it’s from something self-inflicted, I’ll admit to wanting to gloat over it more.

I had shingles some years ago and was in mild discomfort.

Almost undoubtedly because such information would only be released by the doctors treating him (or by his publicist) if Giuliani permitted it. HIPAA prevents his doctors from releasing any specifics about his condition or treatment without his permission (or the permission of his family or designated people on his directives list).

I rather imagine he’d love to use the idea that his health issues are the result of 9/11 to resuscitate the heroic (and inflated) image of “America’s Mayor.” If it deflects from his drinking, so much the better.

I mentioned the 9/11 health claims because the reporting upthread has his lawyers already making that claim:

(Atamasama’s second link)

So it’s a two-fer, demanding free healthcare from the feds, AND burnishing his image which is sooty back from exposure, grift, lies and general slime. Maybe he should cleanse his toxins with a nice hot enema of his grift coffee brand, MAHA style.

Oh wait…

I haven’t had shingles, but the vaccine shot (twice!) was the most painful I’ve ever had. My arm hurt for over a week both times.

^ Concur.

Yeah, both shots hurt, but my sister said the pain she had with shingles was the worst she’d felt in her life. It’s really variable. But considering our close genetic relationship, I felt getting the shots was better than not.

Pretty sure Ghoulsie’ll be leaving hospital soon, unfortunately.
Oh well.

He’ll definitely be wheeled out, one way or another. I’d prefer that it be feet first, though.
