As huge a mean streak as I have at times, being gleeful at a case of lung cancer goes beyond the pale for me, no matter how despicable the victim.
So solemnity for me, and a quick demise for him.

I think it’s more the “market for that sort of thing” than “no one was willing to lower their standards”. There have been liberal attempts to replicate talk radio that failed, which isn’t to say there is absolutely no market for extremist radio from the left, just not enough to support a huge nationwide program.
The best example I can think of when you combine popularity with leftism is Democracy Now, and that at worst equals Fox News’s “report and distort” paradigm rather than the infotainment bluster and bullshit Rush model. While I don’t think DN is quite as bad as Fox News, they’re close enough that I won’t quibble, and yet it’s leagues behind both the depths and breadth of its even worse equivalents on the right.
There’s also secondhand smoke inhalation, which smokers are not immune to. Big cigars can take an hour or two to smoke and you can’t hold your breath all that time.
According to the National Cancer Institute, cigar smoke is even more carcinogenic/toxic than cigarette smoke, which partially outweighs less frequent inhalation.
I suspect there might be satisfaction among Limbaugh/Limbaughites at the glee with which some liberals are greeting the news of his impending demise, which can be exploited to “prove” how Evil the Left is.
He never voted for Reagan for president. Because he never voted until 1988 when his show went national. Radio is declining but he still makes big money. He makes over $80 mil per year. Only guy who makes more on radio is Howard Stern.
Second hand smoke? Liberal nonsense!
Rush Limbaugh, December 9th 2013.
This “feminazi” has no sympathy for anyone who does something that they know could kill them.
And Rush, ain’t karma a bitch?
Let them. The Republican party is a shit party full of shit people who do shit things for the sole purpose of putting as much money in their shit pockets as possible (or caging children, they seem to like that too).
As if they wouldn’t do ten times worse if one of the talking heads on CNN had a life threatening illness. If Jon Stewart got cancer, they’d probably propose a national day of celebration.
Winstons taste good AS a cigarette should.
Couldn’t a big enough prayer chain or prayer circle fix him right up?
Well said. The honestly surprising thing about them is that chronologically they are adults. And claim to be patriots despite going against basically everything this country is supposed to stand for - first and foremost among them is the democratic process.
Aw…you mean he’s gonna be cured?
There is no judgment-filled afterlife. He gets his here. He is a divisive predator who fattened up his wallet by taking advantage of the ignorant through abuse of the gift of speech. Cancer’s too good for him and I hope every minute he lives is more agonizing than the last. And unless you have some kind of scoop, I’m not certain Nadler’s wife has one damned thing to do with Rush dedicating his life to farming up hate and having some of it come back on him.
What do you want - good grammar or good taste?
Not a lot of good taste in this thread.
Regards,
Shodan
Given the very nature of the subject, are you surprised?
Meh. I can muster up more sympathy for Alex Trebek than I can for Rush Limbaugh. I feel he will be more deeply missed when he passes.
I can’t stand Limbaugh, either, but we should hope people find wisdom before death finds them. If life’s journey is about learning and growing, then his journey was far too short.
What did you expect? He’s naught but fat and gristle.
What’s the tasteful way to respond to someone who’s clearly FAKING an illness for publicity?
You reap what you sow. Rush hasn’t exactly sown the seeds of empathy and good will towards his fellow man.
Rush made his choice, he is now beset by the results of those choices, both in the disease he has and the feelings people have about him.
But Rush was the poster child for good taste? Yeah, right.
You reap what you sow. Enjoy the opiods, Limbaugh.
