This meme is getting old. Trump opposed the gas pipeline to Germany with sanctions and encouraged them to build sea ports for natural gas ships as a backup. It was to prevent what just happened. Russian just cut of gas to Poland and Bulgaria. It was Biden who lifted those sanctions. .
I think it’s relevant to point out the political climate leading up to Putin’s invasion. Germany was still looking at going forward with Nord Stream 2 and the drop in sanctions by the US was certainly seen as a pro-Russian change of events.
Modnote : A joke about taste (good or bad) does not warrant politicizing a breaking news story.
I found it, this was the second time in this thread . Do not do this again as next time will be a warning.
Reminder to all, don’t politized this thread. Go find another thread in P&E or start a new one.
How does Russia currently supply Transnistra? Do they truck in supplies from Moldova? Fly them in Berlin airlift style the long way, over the Black Sea and then over Romania and Moldova? By boat up the Dniester?
I thought this was an interesting question.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transnistria:
One point of access for Russian soldiers travelling to Transnistria remains Chișinău International Airport and the short overland journey from there to Tiraspol. Over the years, Moldova has largely permitted Russian officers and soldiers to transit the airport on their way to Transnistria, though occasionally it blocked those that were not clearly identified as international peacekeepers or who failed to give sufficient advance notice. Chișinău Airport would likely only ever agree to the possibility of moving employees, officers, and soldiers of the peacekeeping forces. The passage of soldiers of the 14th Guards Army would be illegal.
Looks like an hour drive from the airport to Tiraspol.

Well, if they do that, the Ukrainians can probably get a nice side dish going in the oven.
Within Transnistrian separatist-held territory is perhaps the largest ammunition depot in Eastern Europe:
The Cobasna ammunition depot has been referred to as one of the largest if not the largest ammunition depot in Eastern Europe and contains up to 20,000 tons of Soviet-era weapons from the 14th Guards Army of the USSR and also from the former states of Czechoslovakia and East Germany. Currently, it is guarded by around 1,500 Russian soldiers.
The Cobasna ammunition depot, formally the 1411th Artillery Ammunition Depot (Romanian: Depozitul de muniții de artilerie nr. 1411; Russian: 1411-й артиллерийский склад боеприпасов, romanized: 1411-y artilleriyskiy sklad boyepripasov), is a large ammunition depot located in the village of Cobasna. Legally and internationally recognized as part of Moldova as a whole, the unrecognized breakaway state of Transnistria controls the village and the ammunition depot and has denied access to internati
It’s about 2 km across the border from Ukraine.
Putin addressed lawmakers in St Petersburg. His comments about the war are confusing. NATO has intervened in Ukraine since day 1.
I think strategic threats may include attacks inside Russia. The uncertainty of what Russia may do must be keeping International leaders up at night.
I can’t see any choice but continue supplying Ukraine with weapons. Otherwise the entire region is at risk.
Virtually no information in the link. Just what you can see in the preview. However it does have a Twitter video of an aircraft in a flat spin (but not hitting the ground).
A video of a Russian Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bomber aircraft spiraling out of control, apparently over Ukraine, made its rounds on social media yesterday.

Not only are they confusing they’re illogical. Putin doesn’t want to have any anti-Russian nations bordering Russia. O K… So you take Ukraine. That Leaves Poland bordering Russia. they’re certainly anti-Russian. He could keep grabbing countries until he gets the the Atlantic Ocean.
He needs to go. There is nothing sane about him.
Maybe we can hope that means he’s not talking about nukes, since they aren’t exactly the most modern of weapons?
Yeah, it’s probably foolish to pretend that wasn’t what he was talking about. It’s still fun to sometimes take a statement like that as literal.
Yeah, I think I and others pointed out that Putin doesn’t want NATO on his border – but that if he does take Ukraine, he’ll have NATO on his border!
Maybe Putin is talking about weapons that his defense staff have told him they have, but actually they spent the money on yachts?
Fear_Itself:
Him and what army?
The one his generals are telling him that he has .
What generals, the ones in his head?
it is starting to look like Russia is in need of lebensraum
My *first reaction was “photoshopped,” but apparently this is a thing that Russian tanks have been known for:
*To give myself a little credit, my somewhat delayed second reaction was “but then again, the faintly visible impressions in the ground look just right, so maybe… legit? I mean, gosh, it’d have to be a magazine explosion or something, but who would design a tank like that???”

Unfortunately, doesn’t this mean that Ukraine has the same problem?
