Depends how you look at it. Jammin’ Joseph put it thusly:

To that end, I quite publicly state that, although the nuking of Kyiv provides the moral justification for full scale nuclear war, I am magnanimously refraining (at least for now…) from turning Russia into a giant hole in the ground. Everything that follows is done at the same time as the most massive propaganda effort ever made to get informa…
America is so good at restraint and measured reaction - like we showed after 9/11…
I can understand the russians “underestimating” the Ukr in the first week
… but after getting your ass whipped consistently by the ukr for 30 weeks now - your very “underestimating claim” is just good ol’ russian incompetence / self serving lies … (I assume you are russian, too?) … and with that you cannot win b/c the more people you throw in there, the more incompetence you create …
yeah … WHATABOUT the rest of the world? … there must be some 180 countries in the world that allow you to stand on public space with an empty poster … without problems
In russia you go to jail.
don’t whataboutyourself out of this
Not as many as there used to be, sadly:

But nothing to do with Russia or the war.
they stand in line with the elite-chechen fighters and the battle-hardened syrian army … (anybody remember those news stories 2-3 months ago?)
maybe african child-soldiers fit the bill?
It wasn’t meant to be the easiest plan, just the one most likely to work without us getting into a full-scale nuclear war. Once nukes start flying, no matter who starts it or how limited the first volley is, that’s the most likely end result. Anything we can do to decrease those odds though is at least worth trying, IMO. Other than just rolling over, of course.
Depends on which direction they desert. If I was a Russian cannon fodder soldier and had three options (die fighting, Russian prison, Ukrainian prison), I’d choose Ukrainian prison and hope that I succeed in surrendering before the Ukrainians shot me.
I agree with your sentiment wholeheartedly. Exactly the same way I repeatedly said at the time that our response to 9/11 should’ve been, “That’s the best you’ve got? We’re plenty big to take that and more!” While POSITIVELY cementing our relationships with other “right-thinking” countries, striving for meaningful change, and meaningfully ostracizing any countries who failed to condemn those responsible.
But that sort of approach doesn’t seem to play well in America. Instead, we gleefully surrendered our civil liberties, while celebrating the opportunity to beat up on someone - anyone, and at the same time further enriching the rich. What a great country!

This.
Well, the situation has dramatically changed. I’m not sure what happens next.
The new troops won’t be very good. The Nukes are a major concern.
Putin could use a tactical nuclear weapon to strike fear into the Ukrainians and to demonstrate Russian resolve and power. So he’d pick an unpopulated but militarily and symbolically significant spot in a remote place - i.e. Snake Island.
But I reckon if Putin does this he will lose the support of his more powerful allies/sympathisers - especially if western countries threaten secondary sanctions. So Putin will only do it if he is severely backed into a corner and lashing out like a scared animal - which would also mean he is enormously vulnerable at home.
Yes, happens to me in Canada all the time. /s
And, just for the hell of it we’re going to invade Iceland because they’re such a threat to our existence.
It seems reasonable to continue the counter offensive in Luhansk.
Ukraine forces have already bridged the Oskil River.
Be careful - they can be fierce and underhanded. But if you beat them, they will respect you and offer the hand of friendship. Note that everything I know about Iceland, I learned from D2: The Mighty Ducks.
Never take on Iceland. They have hákarl and aren’t afraid to use it. Nukes are nothing.
Don’t forget svið, half a singed sheep’s head. It looks like something you’d hurl with a trebuchet.
