I hope I’m not too late to add my sympathies regarding your mother’s terminal illness. I don’t know you or your work as well as most of the others, but what I’ve read of yours is enjoyable. I find the harassment issue unfathomable, and hope you don’t let it get to you. Take heart.

I’m very sorry to hear about your mother, and I am also sorry that some people just don’t know how to act, and that you’ve been subjected to cruelty and mockery in your time of need.

Sampiro, my heart felt sympathy to you and yours. I can relate all too well to the emotions you are dealing with right now. I am also truly sorry you’ve had to deal with asshats of this magnitude at such an inappropriate time.
As to the comment about (I paraphrase) being a bad reaction for a Southerner let me say as a Florida born that it was done in GRAND Southern Style! A gauntlet to the lips would have been no better than that one.

I just want to add my voice to the chorus also. Your stories are a major reason I am proud to be a Doper, and became a member, rather than just a lurker. That you are willing to share your trials and tribulations with us encouraged me to open up more myself. You are one of the greatest treasures of this community.
I have lost my mother also and know how difficult it is. You have my deepest sympathies. I hope that you find all the comfort you need.

I was walking down the street today and I thought to myself, “I wonder how Sampiro is doing?” My sympathies. I know I can’t do anything for you, but I hope you’re holding up okay. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.
Understandable. But at the same time, writing can be a good vent for stress. Particularly for someone who’s so obviously a writer. And you clearly have a lot of sympathetic ears (eyes?) around here.

I’ve been lurking about here for years, and one of the reasons I finally crawled out of the woodwork was because I’ve read Sampiro’s stories for a long time. I have snorfed coffee onto the monitor over some of them and banged my head on the desk over others. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to add one more name to the list of people who wish him well.
So, consider me added to the Sampiro Support List. Hang in there, man.
