Any rant is going to have an attention whore aspect to it. That’s because personal issues activate on a more profound level. Sam would rant better about his family and friends than he would about the Middle East situation, I would think, because he has level one-to-two involvement.
A rant that focused solely on Rick’s situation would be just a pity party. No entertainment value. Brain cancer isn’t funny. But by using himself as a focus, Sam adds dimension and humor to the situation.
It’s all a matter of individual taste, of course. Not everybody’s a sicko like me.
Just a minor point: Excalibre was banned for trying to log in as someone else using the wrong password, in the mistaken belief that this would lock up the poster’s account for an extended period of time.
If that daughter is Christina Crawford or Barbara Davis Hyman, maybe.
I like the way he “whistles in the dark” myself. Humor is often a more positive coping mechanism, IMO.
That is true from what I have heard, but I said, “**helped ** push Excalibre towards his banning”. I did not say **Excalibre ** got banned due to Sampiro.
Unless Sampiro was standing behind him with a gun to his head ordering him to try the account hijack, he wasn’t pushing him toward anything.

There is more to the story, including the suspension that **Excalibre ** barely bother to come back from that was partially **Sampiro ** related IRC. The final act, if it was as said, was just dumb or his way of getting himself banned for good.
I believe Excalibre express some distaste with the grief he took over Sampiro first falsely accusing him and then getting him some sort of trouble for something that did happen off the board that Sampiro effectively and foolishly dared him to do.
The whole mess was ugly; I am just trying to point out that Sampiro is in no way the guiltless in what happened. I could cite more of this, but I won’t as the cite would be in the form of emails that Excalibre angrily fired off to me when I accepted the Sampiro version of the truth. I feel to this day that Sampiro mislead the board about what actually happened until he was called on it. Kind of a shitty thing to do, he got away with it as he is a beloved poster and few seemed to like Excalibre.
You can believe what you want, and I can understand forgiving Sampiro his indiscretion, but lets not white wash the whole incident.

Okay, I’d intended to sit this thread out, but as my integrity means more to me than what others think of my sanity I can’t sit silently and be called a liar.
I never falsely accused Excalibre of a motherfucking thing. I said that somebody claiming to be Excalibre (I could not have been clearer on the disclaimer) sent me harassing emails. I NEVER SAID it was Excalibre. (At the time there was a fake Diogenes and a fake Tubadiva operating over there as well.)
I did not/do not know if it was him or not (I think now it was probably not but wouldn’t be surprised either way as, imho, that guy is a total psycho far worse in reality than anything I’ve been accused of). I stated that he posted my information over there- which is true- and that I supplied him with the information- which is tru and which was not only stupid on my part but which I admitted was stupid on my part and for that I take full responsibility now and I have taken full responsibility for in the past- got it? Shitty thing to do on his part/stupid thing to do on mine/this isn’t the first time I’ve said that.
If I’m lying about this then it should be really goddamned easy to prove, and as my accuser I call upon you to submit proof, or else admit that you have libelled me.
PS- I feel strongly enough about this that I make the following offer:
If you can show me where I’ve lied I will never post here again. If you cannot show me where I’ve lied, you should never post here again, and if you cannot show proof and do not apologize I will make a complaint to the mods that you’ve libelled me.
I just wanted to put my .02 in and say that I thoroughly enjoyed that friend with cancer outrage thread. A 5-post OP is a rarity, but an entertaining one? Genius. I laughed. I learned.
Sampiro you are one of the most entertaining contributors here. I didn’t want to say anything in that thread because it turned into a big ol bicker fest. So I’ll say it here, in your Pitting.

Even if I take the time later and show the pattern of minor deceit, I believe you engaged in at the time. This should in no way force you to leave the board. As far as the mods, report me now if you like. That is your way I am beginning to see.
I have never given you a moment’s hassle before. I am not a snarker. I had my own issues with Excalibre. However, you are a real pissy piece of work.
You were leading the board at first to think that Excalibre was leading an assault against you and posted info about you. That sucked, but once it was exposed that you provided the info, it made you look like a moron. You did not mention that little tidbit until someone else did.
It will of course take some mod action for where you were most attacking Excalibre, those threads appear to be gone. You won, you got your wish, he is gone, and he committed SDMB suicide apparently in the end. However, you led people to believe that Excalibre poster your info just to spite you. I call that a lie.
BTW: you already admitted to be caught in a different lie in the first thread I linked. So why so upset over your honor.

I think this is a little over the top. It doesn’t lend credibility to what you’re saying, it only makes it look like you enjoy gambling. This is just drama for its own sake.

Oh, for God’s sake: it’s a fucking message board. Stop caring so much what other people- complete and total strangers, no less- think of you.
The very fact that you would suggest there are legal ramifications for a stranger on a message board online because they assaulted your honor says more about your confidence in your honor than anything What Exit? could have said.
