If it was the incident where he really pissed me off, I think it lasted longer than 20 minutes for both of us, and yet he didn’t infuriate me as much as some posters in GD. One in particular leaves me too angry to be civil. Even when I was mad at Liberal, I think he will admit, I remained civil.
The poster I am avoiding mentioning argues in a seriously dishonest way and is way worse for this board than the other place could hope to be. I mean that place made an all out attempt to drive **Evil Captor ** off and as far as I can see he is still around and posting.
The **Sampiro ** blowup was nearly as much **Sampiro’s ** fault as the other place. Some snarkers pushed him while he was down, but he really over reacted in his grief.
When **Sampiro ** returned, he actually lied about how much **Excalibre ** had done and helped push **Excalibre ** towards his banning. Not that many would shed a tear for that, but that was my read on it. When he was caught in his lie, he played it off badly, but it was glossed over as usual.
Ironically, **Sampiro ** in his anger and confusion first blamed **CarnalK ** and then made a half-assed apology. **CarnalK ** might even have some legit reason to dislike Sampiro.
The difference is in whether you judge Person C by what Person C said on Person C’s website, or you judge Person C by what Person D said about Person C on Person E’s website. If those sound the same to you, your issues may run deeper than a misunderstanding of the word “science”.
Yeah, lord knows Dopers don’t get their balls busted anywhere else. It’s a good thing our hero has come to save the day.
Well, I don’t think his apology was half assed. I think it’s likely that when I spiritedly defended the snarkpit in that thread I [post=8840913]linked earlier[/post], which is the only real argument I had with Sampiro before this, he might have taken that as cause to rescind his apologetic feelings, if not officially the apology. I don’t know if my continued iteration that I don’t hold a grudge and the searchable fact that I don’t follow him around are sinking in; I just hope it doesn’t have to be World War 3 the next time I accidentally throw a comment his way.

I said this yesterday: overreacting is Sampiro’s middle name. So many more people like him – love him, even – than dislike him. But let just one person make one snarky comment, and he goes off the rails. Repeatedly says “I don’t care what you think, and I’m going to keep saying so for seven posts.” So many supporters, and yet such a thin skin. I wonder why he can’t just be secure in the knowledge that he’s an SDMB icon.

Not trolling. There is clearly a blood relationship between the two boards. I mean, it is the same people talking about the same things. The rules here leave a gap of things that must remain unsaid, and that place fills that gap.
On second thought, it may be more of a daughter board than a sister board. That place would not exist without this one, after all, and the opposite is clearly not true.
Or isn’t it?. Would the SDMB hold together without that vent? Who knows? After all, TPTB at some point decided that the BBQ Pit was needed to release the pressure from the civility of the other sections. Think of the snarkpit of a level 2 safety valve.
The animosity between the two places is not too different from that between all sisters. If you have a younger sib, who your parents always gave a longer leash, you will relate to the feeling.
Not to make this a Dora ending, but my favourite part is how they all call each other nonny, so it sounds like the ramblings of a single fractured mind, rather than a dialogue among several people. The content is crap, it is the delivery that gets me.
I admit I haven’t read a lot of the previous clues so I guess … Uh what was the problem? Oh, Sampiro Yeah, I like him. Man, his colorful stories pale in comparison to mine. I thought my relatives were wacky, but his, oh boy, let’s go.
I’m going to guess that you don’t really have an idea of what sister means when used to describe non-living things. ‘The other board’, from everything I’ve seen and heard, intends no kind of good will or anything other than mean-spirited commentary to this board, and this board doesn’t even officially recognize that one. Fathom is what you might consider to be a sister board to the SDMB. People whose entire entertainment comes from insulting others in nasty ways don’t really deserve the kind of legitimacy you seem to want to give them.
