Wow, neither **Sampiro ** or **CarnalK ** come off looking good in that thread, but **Sampiro ** looks crazy.

Is he having a breakdown, that 3 post op was impossible to bother reading. The return fire on **Carnalk ** was way over the top. The bash on Liberal, seemed to come out of nowhere and the apology later looked weak.

Did I miss something, is the other place bugging him again or is **Sampiro ** having some other problem?

I have no beef with the OP(s). He does those every once in a while and I must confess to having read several and even having enjoyed one (was there one with a chiropractor?). My problem is with him taking the first chance available to play the “I am persecuted by a world who hates me” card.

I will reserve my opinion of CarnalK, his history with Sampiro or his later posts to the thread in question, but his first response that sent Sampiro over the edge had nothing in it to justify Sampiro outburst. IMHO.

Yes, actually. You are under the mistaken assumption that everyone here is a snarker. We aren’t. Many people don’t, never heard of it, don’t want any part of it, and if they knew would think less of those who partake of that place. You somehow got it into your head that though the Powers That Be (otherwise known as the Mods.) don’t want us to mention “The Place That Shall Not Be Named” (Which I knew of at LJ, who knows what it is like now.) that all the regular Jane and Joe posters here love the place. We don’t. Clear enough?

Other than my thank you speech (to which let me add Guinastasia, Orual, and lots of others) this is the extent of my participation in this thread, and you’ll be surprised how concise it is. There are just two things I want to clear up:

1. I don’t hate Jodie Foster. I have no ire over her coming out whatever. In a dialogue where I was discussing saying hi to a friend through a friend, I said this (OP):

“Hi Rick” said Earl to Rick. “Jon says hi Rick too.”

“Oh, hi Earl” said Rick. “I remember Jon.”

“Hi Jon” said Rick through Earl.

“I’m a lesbian” said Jodie Foster, finally.

“You’re not in this OP thread Jodie” said Jon.

“Still a lesbian though” said Jodie.

“Duh…” said Jon, Earl, Rick, the Mormon’s Tabernacle Choir, Wilford Brimley, and people who never heard of lesbians before but knew whatever they were Jodie Foster probably was one. And then we returned to our regular pitting already in progress.

It was absurdism, I’ll admit. Jodie Foster didn’t really interrupt this conversation. It was a joke made on the day that Jodie Foster officially came out. When I realized (to my surprise) that there wasn’t already a thread about Jodie coming out, I posted a follow-up response saying “If you didn’t realize it, Jodie has just came out.”

Now, was it funny? Evidently not to most. Humor’s like that. As Mary Tudor found out, sometimes you get a bundle of joy and sometimes it’s a tumor. But it wasn’t a mean spirited attack on Jodie Foster (who I’ve said several times is one of my favorite humans).
2. I’ll admit that the opening threads were, even for me, meandering and out of control. I even spoke to the issue in number 3. I was writing extemporaneously, I was really really pissed at the moment (about the guy called “Rick” in the OP), and as I mention in post 3,

Okay, I wrote the above and even I don’t know what it’s about. Except when something really pisses me I get weird and indulge every tangent, but not so you’d notice.

To make up for lost time I promise no more major digressions. The story in a nutshell:

Dull, boring, long-short explanation of it:
I was pissed (at the situation). I was writing an angry rant. When I’m pissed and writing my mind rambles- the associations I make while writing have inspired some of my best and some of my worst stuff. They’re also influenced by what’s around them, and that night while writing a stream of consciousness rant I happened to be playing an I-Tunes collection that included Coronation Dance from the movie Elizabeth, and the sound of virginals and Tudor trumpets took me there, and as I was writing about the bitchy gay guy who fired Rick it occurred “how appropriate, he’s the most bitter evil self-exonerating crazy queen since Mary”, and that soon became a twisted and rambling post.
The end (of that part).
I was typing fast and furious, never even read what I wrote, just hit “Post”. Aw’ight, I went back, read it, said to myself, “Bigelow, this completely detracts”, edited most of it out, hit the EDIT submission, but by that time the EDIT window was closed. Not surprising.
So I wrote the “damn, I couldn’t even follow that one” disclaimer and wrapped up the story in post 3. So there you have The Private History of a Pit Thread that Failed.
From there it grew to the notions that I’m obsessed with loathing over Jodie Foster and want to gay-rape somebody. At this time CarnalK, who I already find an offense to the human race to begin with and refuse to pretend doesn’t enjoy taunting Dopers as a hobby, came in, baited me (which I think is an objective statement), I returned fire, and I don’t think either he or I have ever let the words “this isn’t worth arguing about” cross our respective lips, so it really went to hell.
I honestly don’t see how anybody could take the “that cunt Jodie stole John HinCkley from me” as anything other than an obvious joke (I really and truly have never shagged John Hinckley- honest- can’t provide a cite just now but take my word for it). Anybody who is over 30 and doesn’t know who John Hinckley is in Jodie Foster’s life… well, really should.

And so as Forrest Gump observed, “That’s all I gotta say about that”.

I honestly thought that having the Jodie Foster reference intruding into your story was some kind of metaphor for her coming out being obnoxious or something. I thought there was some ire there. So I asked about it, sure in a snarky way. You come right back and talk about “pathetic impotent fucking oxygen thieves who make fun of others behind their back on message boards” and sarcastically adding “I’m sure you’re busy this time of year with charity work and making people’s lives generally happier and doing your best to not add meanness to the world”. But I’m the evil guy who should be put on ignore, huh? What-the-fuck-ever, people.

I second Loach’s question about there being a rule that we had to start a new pit thread instead of commenting on the same one. It makes no sense to me, if it had being a thread in GD, for example, then yes. But a pit thread to follow up on another pit thread? Makes no sense to me.

I kinda replied to this, but since it keeps popping up, let me clarify. That thread is about some dude getting unjustly fired (or something, I don’t know). People over there are trying to commiserate or debate the issue. This is about Sampiro playing the paranoia card when it had no place.

Now Sampiro is trying to use this one to explain what he was trying to say there, since that thread seems to be irreparably hijacked, even if it was by the OP himself.

This is not a revision of that thread. This is a separate issue. That I don’t feel like hijacking that thread is a bit of a reflection of my anal retentive personality, or something.

Ok, enough silliness. IMO, Sampiro posts that way for a few reasons:

1. stream of consciousness–why not?

2. he finds it amusing and lo! so it is.

3. it’s a way of deflecting thread shitters–only those truly interested will wade through the prose.

4. He’s gay/Southern/and a librarian! (I think) aka he is required to be “colorful” if not downright eccentric.
   That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

Sapo–if (and I mean this kindly) you aren’t sure what the other thread was about, why not just ask in that thread? It was about Rick getting fired in an awful and unjust way, whilst suffering from brain CA. Mary Tudor saw a lot of injustice too–her’s done to other people. And JodiE Foster has seen injustice as well. Now that’s she “officially” gay; she will never more suffer injustice. I just hope she gets to play Bloody Mary some day.

I don’t think so. but then, I tend to get Dopers mixed up (still!) and then, when I think I’ve got them pegged? They either do something heinous like change their user name OR change their minds! The nerve of some people–growing and all that stuff…

Heh. I tried to digest the OP(s) when they came out. Didn’t make it too far and forgot about it. I only returned to it when I saw it had hit 3 pages (I hate missing a trainwreck) to see what I was missing. A lot, it turned out. I have very little interest in the topic of that thread. Only on what came of it.
