Just checking in to confirm our intention of being there for both dinner Saturday night and brunch Sunday morning.
I regret that we can’t be specific at this point about when we’ll be arriving and what part of Balboa Park we’ll be in when. No one chimed in and said they wanted to join us, so we didn’t make any hard and fast plans. But mostly it’s because Thomas is coming off of working night shift and has to re-adjust his body back to a daytime schedule, so we’re not sure how early we’ll actually be taking off from L.A.
We’ll definitely look forward to seeing everyone at dinner, though! And in case anyone wants to leave any messages for us or needs to reach us for any reason, we’ll be staying at the Studio 819 Hotel, which is only 0.45 miles from Corvettes – so right nearby!

I can’t assume everyone who just said “I’m coming” meant both Saturday and Sunday, so that’s it.
I’m going to change the reservation to this low-ball number of 7, but I’m fairly certain their brunches don’t sell out, so if more people want to attend, I don’t think it’ll be a problem to add more chairs to the table. That prevents me from paying for no-shows, but everyone can still participate, even at the last minute.
That makes 14. Anyone else, including those on the “maybe” list, I didn’t get a definite “yes” from you, so you’re not in the above list. However, I’ll pad the reservations in case anyone forgot to post to the thread or can make it last-minute, so please come even if you’re not listed above!
Shayna, thanks for the efforts, and enjoy Balboa Park. I know where you’re staying, and I understand it’s a neat place, so do enjoy.

Actually, disregard my notes about reservations for Saturday at Corvette - they don’t take reservations, so as long as we’re all there at the same time, they’ll be able to seat all of us (and don’t worry about a wait - it’s a huge place).
This is the first weekend without “June Gloom”; and as much as I dislike the sun, I can’t pass up the first oppportunity this year to get into the kayak.
Not that I wouldn’t enjoy meeting up with you all! I live the Dopefests! But the call of the water is strong, and the 'yak is on top of the vehicle. Now I just need to wait for the laundry to dry…
Had a great time, even though I bowed out early from Corvette’s (was developing a pounding headache from the noise and being over-tired). Lips was a hoot, and 'twas great fun getting Yudi to blush. Now he’ll never post to Straight Dope!

Besides, on my list of unattainable men to go after in case Jerry doesn’t last, he’s certainly not at the top. He’s probably wedged in there right behind Mo Rocca.
Beyond being generally intellectually gifted, the dopers I have met to date are all (and I mean all (with the possible exception of Esprix )) above average in attractiveness. Of course the two qualities very much do go hand in hand. We got a few pictures. I’ll see about getting them uploaded tonight.
That’s funny, Sister, since I was going to mention that I’m not going to do the next one, as my plate is too full. But I’ll attend if someone makes the arrangements. I’ll also probably make the next LA one as well, whenever that may be.
