I arrive in Oakland at 6:39 PM Saturday, and depart at 1 PM Monday. Hows about an impromptu gathering? I have no idea what I’m doing for transportation, or hotel but damn it I’m coming out there.
Pricciar! Wanna make a road trip? Demo, Sea, Doob, VV, hope you can spare a couple minutes this Labor Day weekend to say hello. Anyone have any advice on getting around the city, and in from Oakland Intl? Bart? Rent a Car? Whats a nice area to stay in?

I’m there. OAK is relatively easy to get places from. there is a shuttle to BART and then you can take BART wherever you want. Pretty much anywhere in SF is nice, although overpriced. I’m not sure what’s out in Oakland. You probably don’t need to rent a car if you are just visiting the city.
I’m working Saturday night from 9pm on, so can’t do anything then. Sunday I should be free though.
I think at one point, we should meet at the redwood room. It’s pretty cool, and they are closing it on september 10th. That will be the last chance to see it. The entire bar is made from a single redwood tree, it’s downtown, and it just kicks general ass. There is also a lot to do around there.
Actually I barback, I’m in training to bartend. But everyone is more than welcome to come to where I work on saturday. It’s a house club, pretty unpretenious, there is even a patio inside where you can smoke things
Of course I wouldn’t be able to socialize really, it gets pretty busy on Saturdays.

OK, I have 2 friends from college who live in the Presidio (sp?) I’m trying to contact them now via e-mail.
I’m definately going to do what it takes to party with you punks, and as of yet I have no schedule or other people to consult with. This is gonna be great!
Saturday night and Sunday night are both open for me. If I end up getting a hotel I’d like it to be in SF, so at some point I might need to pick you guys over for suggestions without dropping $500 a night.
If you didn’t notice, I haven’t exactly planned anything out yet.
I need to pretend to do a little work today, but planning will commence in full force once I get home tonite. Keep the suggestions coming, and if anyone is going to be around I’ll be in #straightdope around 10 PM CST. AIM is welcome too, Bacchus1976. I hope to see and get drunk with the whole crew. I think I can make it on Sunday afternoon. I suggest the Cadillac Bar near Moscone Center. I can’t remember the street name, but I’ll get it… Anybody else have a better idea?
Cadilliac bar got shutdown because of the expansion of Moscone center.
Again I would suggest the redwood room for Sunday, unless people have better ideas. It is supposed to be cold, rainey, and foggey this weekend, otherwise I’d suggest something outside.
Also, for Omni, because travel in the Bay Area is a bitch
Sunday afternoon would work better for me, Hubby would be more inclined to watch the kid if he doesn’t have to deal with bedtime, but I could probably guilt him into Saturday night.

Not to glom onto Omni’s coattails or anything, but can I come? I’ve always wanted to attend a “DopeFest” and my Sunday’s are usually wide open.

I just found out someone will cover me tommorrow afternoon/night for call, so I am totally available then. Of course, if another time is better for everyone else, I’ll still make it. I don’t like that job anyway.
