Santo Rugger (RIP Santo Rugger)

I heard that on Facebook he posted that he finally washed his rugby shorts out of respect for the other players. And trust me, I’ve washed that kid’s clothes many times that had lives of their own.

One of his friends found some DVDs of his games. I can’t wait to show them to him.

And I’ve seen him eat mashed potatoes. With his fingers. In public.

Come on Rugger, I’ve been keeping tabs on this thread hoping and praying that you come back to us. I’m so happy every time I read about progress. Thank you SantoMom for keeping our little community updated. We really do appreciate you taking the time to do that.

I don’t know Santo at all, and I check this thread at least once a week. Good to hear good news, and even better to hear it so consistently lately.

And then we have GREAT news from his facebook-profile:

*Hey Everyone - Some really great news - Patrick was accepted at Craig Rehab in Denver. We are trying to get him moved on Wednesday. The insurance company won’t cover the transport cost. So while I know everyone has helped raise a lot of money. To fly Pat will cost at least $6,000 - probably closer to $8,000 if I can’t find a non profit. So please spread the word that if possible we need to raise some more money. You can go into or send a check to any Wells Fargo for the Patrick Garcia Donation Fund, c/o Frank and Sherry Garcia, Santa Fe NM

Pat has been making progress and Craig has a 6wk intensive program that is specialized for patients with brain injuries. This is very very good news and will give Pat all the help he needs to make a recovery.*

Awesome !!! Very good news indeed. Thanks for passing that along!

Fingers crossed!

Can we donate?

Ah-hah…I finally remembered something that I’ve been wanting to ask, but that never comes to me when I’m at the computer…was Pat wearing a helmet?

If the Garcias are accepting donations and people want to give, I’d suggest a separate thread for it (with a link to this one). I’ll clear it ahead of time.

Sincere best wishes from California. Santo, quit screwing around!

Thank you, Rugger Mom and Dad for all the updates! I’ve never met him in real life, but I enjoy him here immensely.

Never worry about the length or level of the things you might tell us here. We’re weird people and we like TMI and detail. It occurred to me that you might feel like you only have to post the positive stuff. That is not the case. We’re also a good bunch to lay the bad stuff on, so if you feel like letting some steam out, we’re here. You are welcome and wanted to be as much a part of this community as Santo himself, so post away if you’re inclined.

Keep on!

Yes. He was wearing all his protective gear.

No doubt that’s what made the difference between suffering horrible injuries (from which he’s recovering) to certain death! Good for him for wearing his gear!

SantoRuggersmom, thanks for all the updates and thanks for being a strong, supportive mother to your son! I know you don’t need thanks, this is what we do, but I’ll say it anyway. And know that not only are the posters in this thread following along, but lots of lurkers like me have been reading and silently supporting all the while.

Go, Santo, and come back to us soon!

We will be leaving for Denver at 9 a.m. tomorrow! Hope to give you an update later this week; keep us in your prayers! The hard work for Santo starts as soon as we get to Craig Hospital.

Does happy dance

Prayers prayed, and good thoughts sent.

C’mon, Santo!

Go Santo!

Best wishes to you Mom. I think Santo loves a challenge.

Thanks for keeping us up to date~ Keep the faith!
