Santo Rugger (RIP Santo Rugger)

Pat is responding so well in therapy. All three therapists were pleasantly surprised at Pat’s performance! He is responding more consistently to commands and becoming so much more relaxed. Today he tried so hard to rub his lips together to smooth out his chapstick. There are a lot of little things that are adding up! We are so excited!

Did he watch the game?

Great news!

I’m excited too! We’ll just be pulling for you both that much harder!

GO Santo, GO!!!

Hot damn! Sounds like his progress is sure and steady!

Let’s go Santo, let’s go! :: clap clap:: Let’s go Santo, let’s go! :: clap clap::

Excellent news! Thanks for the update. Go Santo!

excellent news! stay on target!

We haven’t had an update in a while… how is Santo doing?

Here’s hoping all is well and getting better every day. I know I’m sending all my spare slack (and I have a lot of it) his way.

Haven’t had a chance to post; we have been so busy with so many things. Patrick is making forward progress and doing well in therapy.

He has an appointment this week with the neurosurgeon. After two appointments with a neurologist that just didn’t click for us, we are glad to see this doctgor that treated Pat in the trauma center. We’ve been transitioning with caregivers and finally have some really awesome ones. We are planning to put new flooring down to make it easier for the wheelchair; quite an endeavor with everything else happening. I will be glad when it’s all done.

Thanks for continuing to keep Pat in your thoughts and prayers. We enjoy reading the cards to him. More updates when I get a chance.

Hugs to you, Mom! You are an amazing woman. Thanks for keeping us posted. Take care of YOU, too, ok? Cheers, to Pat!

I think of Pat every day and these updates are greatly appreciated!

Hey SantoMom, if ya would, check your PMs. Bottom line, I’m wonderin’ if there’s any “material support” I can send the bomb maker.

He’s been on my mind for awhile. . .

Is there any update, SRM? A professional dressage rider, an Olympic Equestrian team member, fell from a horse three weeks ago, and is dealing with the same TBI issues. She’s still in a coma, but she’s climbing out of that. I hope she has Pat’s determination and fight.

Just checking in for an update! Hope you are ALL well. I get to be first to wish you HAppy Easter!!

Thanks for checking in. We are continuing this extremely difficult battle. I think I’ve said before that recovery from TBI is not linear. A few days this week Pat actually has responded quite well to commands and on other days he is not able to. He is suffering from seasonal allergies and coughing a lot. It really takes a lot out of him.

It is so heartbreaking at times. When I remember Pat’s strength and personality before the accident it is so very painful and I miss him so much. I can’t believe that it’s almost been one year.

Again I’d like to thank those of you who continue to keep Pat in your prayers and send cards. We are surely blessed to have that support. It helps us to keep that connection to Pat.

It’s hard to believe it’s coming on to a year since his accident. You’re very brave, SRM. I’m sure it’s terribly hard to see the man you loved struggle, and not seem to be there. It sounds like maybe you could use a break. Is there any kind of respite care that could take care of Pat and you could get away for a while?

Let me second StGermain’s suggestion of respite care - you have to take care of yourself also. And let us know what we can do to help.

We are not quite there for respite, however we do have two awesome caregivers for Pat. These young ladies have made things so much easier. My husband has to have a surgical procedure done Friday and the girls are staying with Pat.

After we get our house put back together and hire some backup caregivers we can possibly get away for a weekend - it’s difficult to leave even for overnight right now.

Pat has bronchitis right now, but in spite of that he has been really alert the past few days. He’s trying to hard to say No! God bless him.

Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Easter to you and Pat!
