Yes, I did. Even watched Breitbart’s video of a part of the speech. You do realize none of the accounts are from a professional, reliable source? The AFP story is not a media transcription, it’s all heresay of unknown persons who may or may not be objective. They’re not reporters, they’re anonymous conference attendees. Accounts of the speech are across the spectrum. That story is off the charts different from what CNN, MSNBC and others report. The sheer inconsistency doesn’t give you pause? I can’t find anything reputable online that’s picked up the notion she’s attacking Obama.

For the record I think she’s a bloomin’ idiot and is as objectionable of a candidate as could be imagined. I’m also not interested in anything your “right wing echo chamber” has to say. But this… this hits the cutting room floor of a Levi Johnston interview.

Breitbart is a conservative outlet. You’re saying they’re making stuff up, or that the delegates are? Has Palin denied saying any of this stuff?

Most people recognize that different standards of etiquette and behaviour apply for private vs public events.

I don’t remember that being part of the rule, and this wasn’t like a private dinner party, it was an address to an international crowd.

I can see it now in 2012; ‘common sense economics’. They’ll lay it up of course. She seems even more of a blank slate for the corporations than was Bush.

It’s in bad taste, in poor form and inappropriate, IMO, for prominent Americans to substanatively criticize US foreign policy in public while overseas. If she did it (which, based on the reports, I kinda doubt), I think less of her for it. Actually, I’d be much more critical of her than of the DC, since she is/was an actual politician giving prepared remarks for an audience of business leaders, not a singer popping off at a concert.
Now, in turn, can we get a rousing chorus of “dissent is the highest form of patriotism?”

No, the highest form is to listen to and understand dissenting views, and to use what you learn to re-evaluate your own position. You might be right and the process will give you reassurance of it. Or you might be wrong and the process will help you avoid an error.

But simply declining to shoot people who disagree? If that’s the highest we can achieve anymore, we’re screwed.

The rule is that you are not supposed to criticize a Republican President overseas, or even domestically, unless you are an America hating socialist. Democrats cannot be real Americans, much less real Presidents, or true Scotsmen. The reason for the rule is that Republicans are all no smarter than Sarah Palin and no braver than Rush Limbaugh (who has never debated an opponent in an equal forum). In short, they are all stupid cowards and it is unfair to point that out.
