All I have to say is that the irony of the NYT riding to Palin’s rescue has been quite enjoyable. I just wonder if she is going to learn that A) it isn’t very mature to call people names, B) if you don’t like the ‘gotcha’ questions then don’t do things that cause those questions to be asked, and C) after all the smack she has talked about the media, she looks really foolish when they are the ones saving her reputation.

Has she actually been squirming? She always impressed me as the sort who could stand there holding a bloody machete and wearing a neclace of fresh-cut ears and saying, “Yes, can I help you, Officer?”

If it’s an accurate review, then it seems that McGinnis has done a bit of a hatchet job here. And if that’s the case, it’s disappointing, both because McGinnis is a good journalist, and because there’s so much criticism that can justifiably be leveled at Palin that it’s a same to muddy the waters with petty insults and innuendo.
I’m still not going to feel sorry for her, because she’s become a victim of the same sort of character assassination that has been central to her own political strategy, but i think it’s a shame to stoop to that level when there are so many valid points to be made against her.
