Sarah Silverman: "I Love You America." (Awesome!)

I have never been a fan of Sarah Silverman (Didn’t hate her, just wasn’t a fan). I had no intention of watching her new show. But, as fate would have it, I was bored, she popped up on my Hulu screen, so I hit play.
Boy am I ever glad I did too. She broke the mold off of late night talk shows. Doing something completely new (to me anyway) and different. She brought the funny while at the same time showing both sides of current political and social issues with out being condescending to either side.
I’m digging this “social experiment” as she calls it, but I’m not too optimistic if it will work.
Anyway, anyone else catch the pilot episode?

I watched it too, and it looks like right about the same time. It came on automatically after I watched a replay of SNL and I wasn’t really paying attention until the spoken “recommended for mature audiences” disclaimer and I thought “duh! It’s Sarah Silverman!” Then I thought to myself that I never noticed the disclaimer being spoken (maybe it is but I don’t recall encountering it). And then I understood why.
Don’t get me wrong, nothing offends me and I don’t think she did anything out of bounds but it was a bit surprising. The part with the southern, right wing family was really great. She was her acerbic self yet she didn’t seem to be mocking them too much. And they weren’t portrayed as total dumbasses. I’d be glad to see more of this.
Grrr!, do you know if she’ll be doing more? If so, when? It looked to me like there is only one ep available.

Yes, an ad just popped up on my Facebook… apparently, new episodes come out on Thursday evenings.

Glad you liked it.

I don’t care for Silverman’s comedy but decided to watch this. It wasn’t bad, the part with the southern family was interesting (I wasn’t surprised after all their talk about the makers and the takers that they were on welfare. I’d be more surprised if they weren’t).

It has potential, but I hope she sticks more to skits and interviews, less to her own comedy stylings.
