SAT & ACT- how did you score?

Saludatorian. Guess I didn’t deserve to be it if I can’t spell it.

Oh, and I’m guessing it helped that Mr. Saludatorian didn’t have a father. If only my parents were poor and separated! Then I might get some free money!

SAT: 1600

I got a full ride to the college of my choice.

And then switched schools two years later, and had to pay entirely with student loans.

I almost hate to do this, but…

Salutatorian

And yes, I got a small scholarship for my first year based on my test scores, but not by any means a full ride.

In 1998…

Verbal: 800
Math: Quick, look over there!

I took the ACT this year, with overall of 35. I got a 36 on the Science Reasoning and English, a 35 on the Reading, and a 34 on the Math. I haven’t taken the SAT yet.

Man do I feel dumb.

I got a 1210 on the SAT (never took the ACT), but as a disclaimer:

It started at some ridiculous hour of the morning, like 6am
I was EXTREMELY hungover
I gave not one flying f*** how I did on it, my father just insisted that I take it. I ended up just making designs with the fill-in-the-dots bubbles in a few parts of the test.

Never took any of those silly prep classes or the PSATs either.

But I still feel dumb :frowning:

Banger and I are SAT twins: I also made a 1390. But mine is from 2000.
ACT score of 33, in 1999.

I got pissed when I took the SAT a year after the ACT, adjusted the score, and realized that I actually did worse. Argh. I guess you have to take the “staying up all night puking from stomach virus” into account.

But I’m coasting along on a free ride at the school I had intended on going to, so I’m not actually complaining.

Oh, and here’s my bragging rights:

I made a 36 on the math. That’ll be my shining accomplishment for the rest of my life…

Salutatorian. :smack: Thanks jr8, I needed that.

I’m still curious about all these free rides. Were these given solely on test scores? Were the schools public or private?

SAT I
Verbal R720
Math R620

SAT II
Writing 620
Literature 640
Am. History 720 or 780 (I think it was the latter)

I’m on a full-ride, and I dont’ think it was just my 28 ACT score (but it was the highest in my class and the class ahead of us). I also graduated #4 (#2 based on GPA, but they figured it numerically) with a 3.98 gpa. I think it would have ot be a combo of all of those.

I really doubt the free rides were given just because of test scores…and if they were, they were probably private colleges with the resources to do it (or public colleges with some sort of automatic system set up)
You’d usually have to do more than answer questions on some standardized test correctly to get a full scholarship…at least be highly involved in some extracurriculars.

As for me, no large scholarships, but I got the acceptance into my university’s honors college that I wanted. The out-of-state tuition waiver was a bonus. Definitely didn’t hinge on my test scores because everyone else’s scores are similar.

1989 version SAT:
790 Math
760 Verbal

Glad to be of service.

I went to Penn State. I suspect my one-year half-tuition scholarship was based on a combination of the SAT scores and my placement exam results (which Penn State makes matriculating students take, or at least used to). My HS GPA was somewhere around a 3.1, not nearly high enough to result in a scholarship.

Here in AZ, if you went to high school in state and were in the top 5% of your class or got a certain score on your SAT or got a certain score on your ACT, your in-state tuition was waived. If you were in the top 10%, you got half your tuition waived. This waiver was effective for eight semesters.
This was good, since I was too damn lazy to really apply for scholarships.

Wow! You guys are sure lucky. In Wisconsin, we just have to apply for lots of scholarships that we never win anyway (Well, I didn’t get any). Freshmen can apply for $1,000 Chancellor’s Scholarships their first year (which I did get) but that’s about it unless you’re a National Merit Semifinalist or valedictorian. Only one kid in my class got a free ride from a UW school. Well, he had pretty good grades, but he got a free ride for being a really good golfer! A golfer!!! I guess it’s obvious what’s important to the UW system . . .

I took the SAT on a lark partially on the off chance that I might want to apply for a US college and partly to see what all the fuss was all about. I end up getting 1600 and duly apply to the top 5 US uni’s only to be rejected by each and every one. Eh Im happy where I am.

SAT, 1968: verbal 745, math 781. I don’t remember my ACT score.

I was a national merit semifinalist(I think just semi anyway) so that helped. My school gave me the Humphreys Merit scholarship which lasts for four years and pays for inschool tuition, books and a dorm room if I wanted to have one which I didn’t.
