well, i want to give to the term ‘mother-type’ women a more flexible meaning. for the purposes of my question it will mean women who have a career but they like domestic things as well, such as cooking, and generally take care of her man and not women who treat men like kids who don’t know what to do in their lives and you have to guide them or something. I am not sure in which type you were referring so don’t take it the wrong way. personally, when i am in a relationship i want the guy to be protective and supportive, and i want to be supportive as well but also i want to cook something nice for him to let him know that i care (this is one of the ways) and because i like to see him happy and ‘satisfied’. that of course, doesn’t mean that i want to be a house wife, no offence to those who do it, but i think is very difficult to be in a house all the time. i want to have my life outside and inside the house.

now, is it a myth or not that men are some times afraid of women that have a career etc. and they see them in a competitive way? that you want your partner to be clever but not more than you?

Not me. Sure you can say “some men”, but that kind of goes without saying doesn’t it? I mean, some men believe that aliens are beaming signals into their brains, but that doesn’t really tell us anything useful about all men.

I can’t think of any women friends of mine who do not have a career, nor can I think of any male friends who would object to a woman having a career. And I find intelligence extremely attractive. Personally, I suspect that guys who go for the “bimbo” type women probably aren’t too intelligent themselves.

You know a thought just occurred to me. I never thoght a guy saying “I’ll call you” ever meant anything other than “I’ll call you” I don’t expect him to call me as soon as he gets home but I can’t really remember sitting by the phone and waiting for it to ring either. Maybe you just get out of people what you expect to see.

Respect a guy and he generally respects you back. It’s contagious that way.

Hmm. Okay. That sounds more like my definition of a good partner, whether you’re talking about men or women, than my definition of a “mothering” type woman. What you describe sounds wonderful.

You’re all ears? How do you type?

I don’t think you’re going to find too many guys on this board who would object to their ladies having careers outside the house. My impression is that most of the men, here, are pretty sophisticated, and that’s a very old fashioned attitude. It probably still exists, in some areas. But, it’s probably a lot more common in rural areas, if anywhere, rather than in metropolitan areas. And, I’d bet most of the members, here, are fairly metropolitan.

As for me, intelligent women are the sexiest. The only time it’s not appealing is when it’s combined with ruthless ambition. I don’t mean women who want to succeed; I mean women who want to succeed so badly that they’ll stop at nothing to achieve their goals. I’ve met a couple of them, and they’re scary. There’s something not right about them. But, would I mind if the lady were more clever or intelligent than I? No. Not at all.

I don’t how many men share this POV, but I get more satisfaction making my wife orgasm as many times as she is capable before she practically begs me to.
