Saturday Night Live - 5/11

Guest host is Kristen Wiig. I boldly predict riotous applause as each of her unfunny, worn-out characters are trotted out doing the exact same things the characters always do in the exact same way in slight re-writes of the same old skits.

Only slightly riskier a proposition than predicting Obama won’t seek a third term in 2016.

I want to like Wiig, and she clearly has talent, but I do not like any of her characters.

Brian

And not disappointing the predictions so far.

20 pounds of suck stuffed into a 10 pound sack of suck.

I was wrong. 30 pounds.

I got a couple of yucks from the blood thing. That was it. The for some reason it occurred to me that anyone who saw the first episode who was the age back then that I am now, is probably dead. So it makes even less sense that this show is still on the air.

Huh, I actually liked of tonight’s SNL. I like Wiig, most of the sketches were OK (though I hate Gillie). It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either. I found the acupuncture sketch oddly relaxing. Oh, and the Old Spice commercial, that was fake, wasn’t it? It sure seemed like a parody even though it didn’t have any SNL actors in it.

I must skipped over that in the replay. I was up to real time in the last 20 minutes or so, and I did get a lot of laughs out of our local public service messages in the local ad spots.
