Saturday Night Live 5/20/06 - Kevin Spacey, Nelly Furtado (spoilers)

I couldn’t take it. The wife and I gave up about thirty seconds into the A-holes. Low tolerance for pain, I guess. Nellie Furturdo sucks monkey balls. Her voice reminds me of an electric pencil sharpener echoing out of a tin can.

Rachel Dratch? Funny? I think Sanz has so lowered the expectations of the SNL viewership anything that doesn’t smell like shit is a rose. Good riddance. Can Amy Poehler leave too? Please?

Everyone seems to hate him. I don’t get it. I think Finesse is absolutely hysterical (either dressed as a woman or as a man.)

I assume you meant to type “in particular”. The Aaron Neville sketch makes me want to claw my eyes out. I fucking loathe Sanz.

If Tina’s leaving, I wish they would have been more clear on it, though I was left with that impression. I totally wish she would stay forever - she’s absolutely hilarious. Plus I have a total crush on her.

All in all, not a great show, but not awful. I liked the rebus sketch - Andy Samberg is really funny. The Falconers sketch was funny as hell, especially when they ran out of white guys to play the Falconer. I like the A-Holes sketch too; Jason Sudeikis is one of the funnier people in the cast.

We were thinking he’d be good, too - the only thing is, if they follow the standard ‘two years as a featured player before you become a cast member’, it’ll be hard to see them put him in the anchor chair just yet. But out of the current cast, I think he and Seth Myers are the two who’d do the best job.

And I must be one of the few who thinks Andy Samberg is absolutely terrible. His digital shorts are good, and he seems like a good director/producer with those, but as a comic actor, he’s awful. His timing’s off and he seems like a combination of Adam Sandler’s annoying “Aren’t I funny?” attitude and the cuteness of Jimmy Fallon (who I did like). I can put up with Samberg simply because well…he is kind of cute and I can be shallow;), but as a comic actor, he’s just a step above Horatio.

E.

I’ll be the voice in the wilderness & admit I found most the episode to be
consistently funny. Spacey’s “American Idol” routine was terrific (“And finally, I’ll sing like a black person!”) and the one saving grace of the “I’m Carol” horror was Spacey’s adoring banter with “her” while trying to not crack up.

We love you, Tina Fey!!!

I didn’t know Rachel Dratch was leaving- and while I didn’t love her, she was always amusing (except I never liked Debbie Downer).
